Raiden Fighters Jet question

Post by GeniusFurrball »

Hey all

I'm new around here, having only found this board tonight. It's great to finally find some kin that love this stuff as much as I do! :D

But to my question: I just bought a Raiden Fighters: Jet cabinet, and at the arcade that I got it from all the ships (all 14) were visible for selection at the ship selection screen without having to do anything special. I got it home, cleaned it up, and plugged it in, and now only the first 6 are selectable! What did I do/not do? Does anyone know what I have to do to unlock the selection of the other ships?

I don't know if this was the right section to post in; if not I'm sorry and feel free to move/tell me mods. =P

Thanks a mil in advance for any help, this is killing me

Cheers, and Happy New Years all ^^

I screwed up, as a newb; it seems this should have gone in the Strategy section. Feel free to answer if you want to, but I'll be reposting this in there like the strategy section explination thread suggests.

It has to do more with how long the machine has been on. I think it's half the amount of days as RF2.
so long and tanks for all the spacefish

As Twiddle said, it goes by how many days the board has been running, and if the battery on the board has died, then it won't store that information. :(

Some region versions have all of them unlocked by default and some do not.

Thanks for the info. I verified the battery is fine by the fact that my scores are saved and the income from the arcade I bought it at came home with me; that simply means it's 100% my fault since I cleared the data when I got home. =( I guess I just have to wait then. *sigh* I just wish I knew how many days it took so it'd be less stressful, lol.

I picked up a RFJ '2000' PCB (despite owning the SPI version) because it had all of the ships unlocked by default, however, it has ceased functioning altogether for some unknown reason. :(

the 2000 versions remove some boss patterns and slow down just about every bullet and are made on much much cheaper shit so them rotting 6 months after purchase is not unheard of

The audio sounds like crap, too, and there is a strange video judder that occurs at certain points. It was much more prevalent on the '2000' version of RFJ, but it happens occasionally on RF2 2000 (which was still working, the last time I checked).

The SPI versions are definitely superior.

Dave, all are shown here (via the Sheep!).

The '2000' economy versions are single PCB type, no cart.
