Thunder Cross on PS2(?)

Post by BulletMagnet »

Another thing I noticed on Insert Credit:
This is from recap once again again - the next two Oretachi Geesen Zoku games have been announced, which you'll recall are PS2 one-off ports of arcade classics, most of which haven't hit consoles previously. The next two, revealed by famitsu (reprinted in rakuten here) are Trio the Punch from Data East (pictured) and Thunder Cross from Konami.
Considering what happened to the Xexex port that was once announced by the same company, many of us here will probably be wary of putting too much stock into this announcement, but I figured I might as well toss it out there anyways.

Yeah, I heard about this too. It looks like it's for real too.

If so, I shall instantly pre-order! :D

Is this Thunder Cross and Thunder Cross 2 in one pack?
Or just the first?

I assume the cool Jp version, not the watered down US version that I sadly have on PCB?

Of course, all Oretachi releases are JP originals. That's why AC Akumajo Dracula isn't terribly difficult to beat.

Yep, the castlevania game for the arcade is stupid hard. Even the PS2 port doesnt give you unlimited continues. I understand not being able to continue from where you died but please allow the player to start from the beginning of the level. You only have about 2 credits for the entire game and the game is hard.

Judging from the cover, it is the 'good' version with all of the weapons

You're confusing Thunder Cross with Thundercade; Thundercade got a NES release, Thunder Cross never saw a home port.

Now I really need to get a jap PS2. This is one of the best games produced, in my book.

Anyone got a list of the people involved in making the arcade?
Have a feeling some treasure boys were involved...

The sequel isn't half as good as the original, am I lonely in this?

No, I agree.

BTW, just a friendly reminder to everybody that this game has now been released.

It may not be, but they're both great shmups, and it's well past time that either one got a home port, considering how long they've been around. Major props to Hamster for that.

I didn't notice it on Play-Asia's site but NCSX shows it coming w/ a ton of extras. Seems that a great deal for the price.

FYI, the Thundercross port is apparently pretty bad. Bad sound -- out of synch, some other goofy shit. I think CIT is getting his copy in a few days. We'll wait to hear from him.

Those "extras" are standard with all of the Oretachi Geasen releases.

I received my copy last week. Been working on the 1CC. One new addition to the standard options in the Oretachi releases is the controller config. Yay! Other than that, they are about the same quality as the other releases. So if you had a problem with the resolution of the other releases, then you will have the same problem here.

Will probably be another 2 weeks until I get my copy. P-A always takes aaaages to ship.

Anyway...

All Oretachis up until Rabio Lepus are interlaced (480i). Since Rabio Lepus they have all been in the correct resolution (240p).

So what exactly is the case with Thunder Cross?

They are the worst to Hawaii. No joke, 3 weeks... and it's not even that far.

I just got mine. And it was the fastest shipment I ever got from P-A. They sent it on Thursday, I got it today, and I used the cheapest shipping option available.

I'm liking it, both from gameplay and technical standpoint. Haven't seen any problems like the ones GP mentioned.

Here's hoping Hamster keeps doing these.

How familiar are you w/ the game? Personally, I've not done much more than a credit here or there (if that even).
