An Advance team run is of course a fair bit longer, so the game has longer to rank-up. Plus you're gonna have triggered some team Special Power Ups along the way, which will have made it even worse.
Plus you get more extends which you can sacrifice to lower rank

You have this pretty funny habit of changing your score entry name from Plasmo to Cowboy-NOA and back again. ^_-

Its time for your Team Advance Plasmo...

Post by DEL »

Just for the record, I managed to get past Glow Squid a couple of days ago on Advance with a team, but the final stage 'Building' wall stopped me with that ranked-up yellow bullet swirl from the sides :? (ST9).

Advance with a team is definitely 'the Masochist's Choice' :D . 10 Bosses more than a Strawman (A) run, 11 Bosses if you trigger Bashinet R as well.

Hmm soon the advanced table will be filled with teams and hex scores I think. Anyways, now that I am back from a short hiatus I plan to take that #1 spot Icarus, Mwahahaha..

Quick question for Plasmo & Icarus - I keep arriving at Discharge on Special Course with Carpet (B) and his firepower isn't destroying the turrets at the beginning. I've tried beaming up beforehand and trying to position the options, but to no great success. Any tips?

carpet is really not a good choice for special course.hes very weak and his options dont give you that much points anyway.i suggest you just use another mahou chara like bornnam for example.

I thought that too, until I tried Carpet (B) on Special Course recently.
Hint: Carpet Obliterates Glow Squid (both forms)!!! - and that's important.
He also takes out all sections of Blunt with ease and is very good with most of the bosses. Its just the first 'turrets' of Discharge where he doesn't make the grade :? .

Hint: You don't want to obliterate ANY boss in Special Course. Least of all the lucrative ones like Glow Squid. ^_-

The first form of Glow Squid has one particularly nasty attack that Carpet (B) can help me avoid. The second form of Glow Squid is indeed lucrative, and Carpet is again useful when you line up his options as a barrier for the rush of popcorn enemies that spit out medals and power ups. Other characters let these popcorn enemies through :? .

^Actually you're right.

Plus I guess you're both right on Carpet too (for Special). I've gone back to Miyamoto C and narrowly missed another 8mil chance on Special Course, dying with 1.5 bombs remaining  .

Advance with a team is still giving me mixed results, but I figure it won't be long :o .

No idea. I'm a little burned out on this game, and just picking at it now. Having been playing it almost constantly since the second week of STGT, I think it's almost time to change. I'm not leaving it unfinished though, and want to wrap up all courses soon, preferably before the meet. Playing World of Warcraft (again, god save me) as a diversion, with occasional credits when I can be bothered.

The ST guide is... somewhere... ^_-
Whether or not it'll be "definitive" is something to be seen.

Fun game....I'll get into it....eventually.

Anyway.....here's my best effort after one day of semi-seriously playing this one.

NORMAL
Overdrive - 926,740 - 2 - Strawman/Golden/Shorty

Now, I do have three questions, as I have next to no knowledge about this game.

1. What do the letters after each character in the high scores list ("A", "B", "C") mean and how do I find them?

2. How do some of you focus on one character for the entire game? On some of the best scores recorded here, I see only Strawman listed, but when I go to pick my characters, I have to select three of them.

3. I've noticed a lot of people like using characters not in the game's main seven like Carpet. How do you access those?

Any help would be appreciated.

Advance Course with a team
Image
Advance Course
DEL - A,183,180 - ST9 - Strawman (A) / Flying Baron (B) / Miyamoto (C)

Died during a ranked up final Stage 9 :? Missing at least another 1.5mil because of it.

I triggered Glow Squid again....unfortunately. His rushing mini drones kamikazeed me twice.

Extra Bosses triggered on this run were:

*Bashinet 2
*Black Heart
*Gob Robo
*Tsumuji
*Black Heart MKII
*Glow Squid
Did not reach Discharge.

Thanks, DEL.....now that I can focus on one ship's style instead of having to learn a new style everytime I die, my performances are getting better.

Best on NORMAL so far:

2,066,850 - Overdrive - Stage 4 - Strawman (A)

Nothing exceptional or anything, but not bad for only playing a couple of days. Fun game....good way to relieve work stress.

Gah! This game is a bitch to get back into after you've taken an extensive break from shmupping. Managed to get within 2k of my highscore on this table and get to Highway (special achievement for me, shut up) :D .

I'm having a problem getting back into it too. During the comp my scoring was all over the charts, but I would at least average 5 million+ with the occasionaly spike into the 6 or 7's. I'm having major problems right now - lots of collisions with enemy aircraft. I think I'm stuck in Psikyo mode.

Pfft. At least you're stuck in a mode. I'm either playing everything at once and sucking at all of them, or I'm playing nothing and reading a book instead. I'm really trying to get into Raizing games more since I never gave any of them more then a cursory glance, but it's coming slow.

9,891,650 - Macaw - Stage 7 - Strawman (A)

Once again dropped my medals in the final stage making me miss out on huge amounts of points. And just like last time, died on the damn turrets just before the last boss, with about 2 bombs in stock.
