[fw.net replaytracker] update announcements
Ok, I've tried to be nice and subtle.... Given up now, here's the black and white:
Please refer to my previous posting.
Now also note that what YOU put on YOUR tracker is YOUR business. What OTHER people do with THEIR connection seeding files on THEIR machines is THEIR business. Agreed with another poster that the things being carried are highly unlikely to be a source of scrutiny, but if it's illegal we don't want to be used as a focal point for essentially web-tracking your tracker.
If people know that Icarus' tracker carries the things they want, they'll look there - so your analogy is flawed (quite aside from information and an OST being two very different things). Of course, 100% legal without grey area files that are added are more than welcome to be mentioned here. You can as a group seed Disneys secret bizarre monkey pr0n fetish DVD if you like, but all we need to know about HERE is a replay someone made.
Is it really so difficult to understand?
As for general "share and share alike"? Perhaps in the fuzzy bunny world, but in the really real world copyright exists and people DO get in trouble over it, even if they're just considered to be 'assisting' in some way. This forum must stay clean. My name and address are on the account the forum currently runs in. If it wasn't me, it would be someone else. I don't want to get contacted one day because Taito got pissed that someone posted their Darius OST on your tracker, and it got mentioned here. Even if there were no grounds whatsoever for their complaint, and still legally I believe there possibly isn't, this isn't the sort of problem we want to go near with a 10 foot pole.

That's fair enough. Can't argue with that. However...bloodflowers wrote:Agreed with another poster that the things being carried are highly unlikely to be a source of scrutiny, but if it's illegal we don't want to be used as a focal point for essentially web-tracking your tracker.
Please refer to my previous post:
I've just removed the Garegga Gain replay from the tracker as well, so anything that could be potentially illegal (in my view, illegal = still available to buy) has been removed, so if anything, everything is (or should be) 100% legal. There hasn't been any OST downloads or upload category available since this legality issue appeared.Icarus wrote:Ack, I'm going to remove the ShmupMusic category from the tracker, since I don't want the tracker resource to go to waste. Replays and other video footage only then, I guess.
Sorry guys, my bad
EDIT: tracker changes complete, OST torrents deleted. Once again, sorry guys, my oversight
Now, as a user asking a mod, can we get back to posting news of LEGAL replay updates now, without anything sparking off again? I've been itching to stick a Bakraid replay up on the tracker...

Yes of course, please re-read what I said again

Horray! I'm glad that's all sorted then
Battle Bakraid Advanced Course replay available! This was originally a MAME input file done by a Japanese player named Y.K, which I captured to AVI to make it easier to watch (without loading a Jpn version of MAME
). XviD encoded, pretty hefty, but interesting viewing.
Also reseeding:

Bittorrent P2P client required. Do a search on Google for "bit torrent", which should bring up a large list of BT clients you can use. Grab one, install it, click on the torrent link on my site, it'll start downloading (if there's any seeds).
And that's DOdonpachi, not DONdonpachi

Happy downloading!
Also, a note for all contributors:

I've noticed a few problems with torrents that give an IOError 500 when trying to connect to the tracker. This is caused by the extra hashcode data generated by Azureus for other networks conflicting with each other. Tomtom's DDP stage replay, and the Gunbird 2 Alucard torrents are two current examples of this.
To counterract this error, when you come to create a torrent in Azureus, make sure you uncheck the box next to "Create Hashes For Other Networks", which should then only generate the hashdata for Bittorrent networks only.
Make sure you check your torrents by doubleclicking them once they start running. If they give you an IOError, rebuild the torrent without the extra hashdata! And please let me know if you have an error on your torrent, and I'll remove the buggy one off the tracker for you.
Oh, and thanks for the shares! I'll be helping to seed the DDPDOJ replay, and the Dimahoo one once they roll in.

I know it's Dodonpachi. Had in my head Donpachi when I wrote it, so it came out Dondonpachi :/Icarus wrote:http://tracker.featheredwings.net/LRa wrote:Where can I get the Dondonpachi replay?

Ack! Sorry for the absence. I've just installed a second 160GB harddrive and a Pinnacle miroDC30plus MJPEG vidcapture card into my main system, and have started with a fresh install of WindowsXP... with a few problems. Never reinstall XP without Pro, Pro SP1 and Pro SP2 discs handy
My system is highly unstable at the moment as I am trying my best to download all the latest WindowsXP updates, so I'll be gone for another day or two. Once I get back, I'll reseed a few torrents, and upload the TF4 ALL No Miss I've been working on.
I'll drop up some info on how to reseed torrents once I get my system safely working and fully stable again.
As for now...
@ raiden:
Both Gunbird 2 torrents have been removed. Feel free to reupload them at your leisure.
@ Neon:
Sure
If you (or any other replay makers who are reading this) want to use BitTorrent and my tracker as your distribution method, then feel free to. Just PM me and I'll set you up an account and send over some instructions on how to use the tracker. The more the merrier

In the Other ShmupVids category:
Cutey Fatty (2002 Wecom, Arcade) Promotional movie. Cutey Fatty is a Korean-developed vertical shmup in which the player (Cutey Fatty) must blast junk foods to lose weight. This promotional video shows stages 1-4, but the player fails to beat what I presume to be the final boss.
Wecom created the game to be inviting and perhaps easy, so don't watch this if you're of the "OMGMANICBULLETHELLONLY..." persuasion :)
"but I know you can't resist this chocolate pie."
"Oh no! I love it"

Could it be the tracker doesn´t work at the moment? I don´t know how the thing is supposed to work, but I´ve noticed that some files just won´t upload (Progear among them, same as the new torrent of Gunbird 2). Am I doing something wrong, or do we have to wait until Icarus´ computer is working again?

I've uploaded a new torrent just fine (see my previous post).
In Azureus, I right-click a file that is not seeding at the moment (reports itself as "Queued") and choose "Force Start". Once its status is "Forced Seeding", I right-click again and uncheck "Force Start". Then the status drops to simply "Seeding".
I'm not sure this is the proper way to do it, but it's worked for me (I'm about the only one who seeds the Gradius III replay). Either way, Icarus will drop a line about how to reseed when he gets the time (see the middle of his latest post in this thread).

Almost done. Just need to get Norton AntiVirus to install without giving me a ton of errors

Speaking of which, I've restarted my seed list:

The tracker is functioning perfectly. So if you see a download with NO SEEDS, then there is no one with the complete file seeding it at present. You could always politely ask for reseedingIcarus wrote:HOW TO RESEED TORRENTS:
If you would like to help with reseeding torrents, then here's the simple walkthrough on how to, using Azureus.Remember, downloads are provided on the contributors time and resources, so please, if you have a completed download, help to spread the file to others by seeding.
- First off, make sure you have a COMPLETE download of the file you would like to help seed, and the torrent file it is linked to. It doesn't matter if you seperate the torrent and the file, as you can select them using the next few steps.
- In Azureus, navigate up to the selection menus, and select File / Open / .torrent File (For Seeding).
- In the first window, titled Choose the torrent file, navigate to and select the .torrent file you want to seed.
- In the next window titled Choose the save path *filename*, navigate to and select the individual file OR the directory which contains the folder that the torrent file links to. Ensure that the names are identical.
- If all goes well, then Azureus will check the file, and send it straight to the Seed section of the client. From here you can Queue, Seed or Force Seed (force seeding is just seeding without the possibility of the client auto-queueing).

The most likely explanation why your torrents aren't uploading to the peers is that the tracker is returning an IOError 500 for that particular torrent. The easiest way to check if your torrents have this error is to activate them, and if the face icon on the far left is RED, then there is a problem. Double-click that particular torrent and check the Tracker Status line in the info box that appears, and if you have an IOError, then the torrent needs to be rebuilt.Icarus wrote:##---------------------------------##

The solution I've found is to uncheck the checkbox next to Create Hashes For Other Networks when you come to create a torrent. That way, you wont end up creating hashdata which might interfere with the bittorrent hashdata that your client will send to the tracker. (It took about four attempts to create the Bakraid torrent before I figured out the problem

Failing that, you could always download and make torrents with MakeTorrent 2.0. It's the same kind of setup, so all you'd need to have handy is the tracker announce URL, which I've given you via the PM I sent you when I created your upload account.
Making torrents is a bit of trial-and-error, and it can be quite frustrating when a large torrent comes up with a few problems. Sorry about that

Regarding your Progear and Gunbird 2 torrents:
the new Gunbird 2 one seems fine, I downloaded the torrent and testloaded it, and the Tracker Status info reads OK. I guess you might either have a lot of torrents seeding (in which case, you can change the amount of simultaneous active files via Tools / Options / Queue and set Max Active Torrents to whatever you want. (I use 0 so I can seed and download more at once, although that can be a strain on system bandwidth).
You can also try Super Seeding, which is a seed mode that works superfast by taking up more upload slots. Find it at Tools / Options / Queue / Seeding. Use at your own risk

Your Progear one has an incomplete Announce URL. I checked it, and it only reads "http://", so you forgot to put in the full URL

Time for a completely new replay.
First up in my short Technosoft replay series, is Blast Wind. This is a ALL Clear run, taking a preferred, optimal scoring route, and is a No Miss to boot, ending the game with an excess of 7 lives for a total of 4.7mil.
I have a short series of notes taken during my quick three day session on the game, regarding tricks, tactics and theories. I'll post them up later on (nearly 4am, need to sleep, work in the morning
)
As usual, BitTorrent clients required to download. I've halted seeding on some torrents, only Bakraid, Raycrisis and DDP Special Version replays still seeding. Will reseed any in the short list posted a few posts above, on request. (Apologies for the slow upload speed

Hot on the heels of the Blast Wind replay is the second in the Technosoft replay series, Thunder Force IV.
This one is done on Normal difficulty, and is a No Miss ALL, for a total of 6,265,430pts. The video is kinda big at around 360MB, and 40mins in length, but is an almost perfect execution of weapon technique and speedy boss and enemy destruction (in my opinion, anyway
).
After spending the past week playing this, I realised how much I prefer TFIV and it's weapons and stages to the unbalanced weaponry of TFV. I still love TFV though
I'll consider doing a Maniac difficulty replay in the near future. Hyper Duel and TFV up soon.
As usual, a BitTorrent client is required to download, and any help with the seeding of the Blast Wind and TFIV replays is greatly appreciated.
Happy downloading!

Could we please get some more people to seed the TF IV no miss superplay? Because right now, all I have is a video that's 76% complete-it stopped at that because no one is seeding the video, and I cannot watch the incomplete video.
Also, is there anyone who'd be willing to contribute some footage of some rare PS1 exclusive shmups, like Gaia Seed, Kyuin, or Bokandesuyo?

Had to change the WinXP-SP2 inbuilt firewall config to let Azureus allow incoming connections. The file appears to be distributing now. Please let me know if there are any more problems.
XP-SP2 based seeders should go into Security Center, and add Azureus and javaw.exe into the Exceptions list to maximise upload ability.
Regarding the rare shmups: I'll be doing a Harmful Park Normal ALL replay in the next month. Working on the Technosoft list at the moment

They say a picture is worth a billion points.

The third of the Technosoft replay series is Thunder Force 5. This is a Normal difficulty ALL Clear, a No Miss, and a maximised score counter to boot. The torrent is now available on the tracker (after several failed attempts to encode the replay, which was tracked down to an access violation caused by a corrupt frame. Fixed

I'll continue to seed the Bakraid, Blast Wind and TF4 replays. Others on request.
Enjoy the replay.

Yeah, that would have been nice. But actually breaking a billion in this game is a tough feat, so I'm quite happy how they display the score either wayGanelon wrote: Crazy...too bad they didn't just give you the satisfaction of having a perfect set of 9's huh?

----------------------------------------------------
The fourth and final part of the Technosoft replay series is Hyper Duel. This one, unlike the others, is not a No Miss, just a plain and simple high scoring ALL (2.17mil). I used my personal favourite, the BG02G Hi-Mustang (the red one), as it's the fastest, and has the best type of special attack for both ship and mech forms.
There were a few mistakes in this replay:
- Took two Tracers to the fifth stage (Planetfall) by accident, even though I tried my hardest to get them killed during the battle with the Black Angel (stage 4 boss). As a result, they disrupted my strategy for medal generation on stage 5 :/
- Got trapped in the corner during the battle with Nightmare (sixth boss) and lost my first life.
- Missed the stage 7 100% destruction bonus.
- Lost the remaining spare life stock on the Hyper Duelist (final boss) due to the erratic and random attacking patterns, and that godawful satellite laser beam.
I'm not going to bother with TFAC and TF3 as I find them far too easy, and not much point since anyone can No Miss them with a bit of practice. Next up (and by request) will be a few clips from Harmful Park. Maybe an ALL replay

Now to find something to play.
