How's PS1 Pinobee??...

Post by dave4shmups »

This was one of those REALLY late PS1 releases, and it's a Hudson platformer, so I am very curious as to whether it's any good or not.

Is that a port of the GBA game?

Not sure which one came first. I've seen video of the GBA game and it looks pretty fun, which is why I'd like to know about the PS1 version.

NO!

GBA port, with no added stuff. I could say this is the worst game I have ever played. found it for $2.50 at Target about a year or so ago. forget you ever head about it.

This game is made by the same team that created Blinx 1. Ex-sonic Team members. Sad, innit? Nor Sonic Team or Artoon can get a hit nowadays.

What was so bad about it??

And I'd really like to hear from someone who's played the PS1 version; it certainly looks like a beautiful 2D platformer if nothing else.

Like Josh above said. It's the GBA game on the PS1. The graphics even look the same.

The game appears to be mediocre, according to several game magazines. (I trust GameGo's opinion, since they run by Ex-Gamefan staff, IIRC.)

You're better off purchasing Kingsley's adventure. Challenging, yes. But fun. Artoon hasn't been able to create a game that can cement their reputation as developer.

Dave, if you want a classy, late-release PS1 title, you can do no wrong with Santa Claus Saves the Earth:

a classic for the ages. it shits all over Pinobee.

Adventure of little ralph is supposed to the king of all PS1 platformers.

Its rare as hell and probably fetches a weeks salary.

If you have a saturn you should check out Astal which is available on US and Japanese import. Its cheap.

Umihara Kawase Shun is the best 2d psx platformer I've played. Haven't seen little ralph though (wonder if that's made by the makers of little samson on NES?)

There's an SNES umihara too.

Taito made Little Samson, I'm 99% sure.

Ralph was made by SCEI. Its an internal Sony game and comes in one of those larger boxes (not quite as thick as a double case but much bigger than a single case).

Ive been looking for that santa game on the net since it was mentioned here.. never heard of that one myself.. and even with a US release I do not see it for sale anywhere.

Ralph can be picked up in alot of places, but due to it not been known to the masses, most importers don't sell it at all. Mark in Japan has sold a few though.

Rich, that Santa game is available to buy only through the internet. Telenet never released it in stores; I saw the link to Telenet's site more than a year ago and that's where I saw the Santa game, it looked hilarious. I can't seem to find their web site now -- I do know they sell it over their site.

Little Ralph is smokin' hot. Generally expensive as hell too. It's very rare. JAPJAC practically shat himself when we saw one without a spinecard in Aki. Amongst piles of Radiant Silvergun, Alien Soldier and the like, we saw only one Lil Ralph. Also, it does indeed come in a standard CD jewel case. At least the two that I've seen have been in those cases.

I kinda want to check out this Santa game.

Pinobee PSX looks like a GBA game on the GB Player. All filtered and ugly. I haven't played enough to know if it's a direct port but I'll believe what has been said previous. It's pretty weak.

The company's name is Telegames and their website is www.telegames.com . They have the GBA Santa Claus Saves the Earth, but the page for the PSX version says "available soon". Those shots in the earlier link are GBA shots. Notice the resloution?
