I felt a disturbance in the Force as if millions of DS players screamed in agony, and then were suddenly silenced...

I got the new firmware already, even though I don't have a PSP. If this is going to cause Sony some grief, I'm all up for it. For great justice!!!111One!

The PSP needed a selling point, and here it is folks... Holy crap. It also screws Sony over in the process, can it get any better? I submit that it cannot. I may have to pick up a PSP for this alone.

this is pretty sweet! anyone know if that ps1 emulator rapes & stretches it to 16:9 or does it leave it alone at 4:3?

Raiden Project and Zanac Neo on PSP FTW. :D

This is nice, especially when Sony will probably not bring over all their PS titles or at least take their own sweet time with some.
Kinect? KIN NOT.

You can go either way.

There are three selectable options to choose from.

Re: PSX shmups available for PSP SOON!

Post by PC Engine Fan X! »

For BIG,

Where's the link so I may d/l this new PSP firmware version 3.02 OE-B to check out the PSX Isos on my PSP?

So it will be possible to play some of those cool "tate-able" shmup PSX game titles on a PSP then?

Thanks in advance for the heads up, BIG -- major news for PSP owners everywhere..... ^_~

Amazing. If this works as claimed, then this means a library of over 5000 titles should now be immediately playable on the PSP via this firmware.

If anyone here is going to be testing this out with specific shmups, post some of your findings in this thread for all to see.

EDIT: fyi, saw this posted about Einhander on another forum...
Einhander (JP) - perfect sound and speed. You have 3 screen options (Original, Normal and Full-screen) - Original is a small box in the center of the screen, Normal keeps it 4:3 aspect and Full-screen stretches it out. Only problem was the lack of R2 and L2 buttons - you use the analog stick left and right to emulate these.

Perhaps the emulator doesn't support Redbook CD Audio (yet)

i've downloaded a playstion-store version of hot shots golf 2 (i'm europe, no ps3) --> that game runs fine. EVERY other game i've tried (ntsc-j Zanac X Zanac, ntsc-j Parodius Da, ntsc-j Internal Section, ntscj Slap Happy, ntsc-j DoDonPachi, pal-e Pandamonium and someothers) all failed to boot.

After the startup screen of the emulator all I get is a black screen. When i hit the home-button it does show the emulator menu (setting screen mode, controls, ect).

anyone know what is going wrong? thanks!

Did you carefully read the instructions of popstation readme? Did you copy the key.ini file along with the generated eboot? Did you rename the hot shots 2 eboot.pbp to base.pbp?
If you did all this right the hot shots 2 version might not be the one u are supposed to use with popstation...

jup done that sry that's why I said it might be inappropriate. Wouldn't play the game just use some ones and zeros the iso would contain, but you're right it's the same thing.

yes, i've done everything from the instructions and according to the info the HSG2 that i have should work as well. only thing that i can't seem to figure out is that the instructions say load from 3.02 OE-B XMB while my firmware is 3.02 OE-B, don't know how to access the 3.02 OE-B XMB (if that is something different at all --> i tried google but didn't help).

for the record: i'm not interested in piracy but i would love to play my psx games on the go.

Okay, I'm going to ask this ONCE, but if you haven't bought a PSP yet, I'm guessing there's no chance in heck you'll be able to run/exploit this Homebrew Ware? As in...you'd have to have an earlier model of PSP? :?

My PSP is a launch unit from March 2005, so I am sure I'm covered. But my firmware is 2.80, so I assume it's either no go or I have to downgrade to 1.5 (if this is the case, could someone pleeease give me a good link to a 2.80 downgrader with decent instructions)? Not to mention, will I have to rent a copy of GTA just to downgrade?

Also, anyone know if CPS2 emu is compatible with the custom 3.02 OE-A? Anyways, I have been watching some of the PS1 vidson youtube and this is amazing. Being able to take my Zanac, R-TYPE Delta and Raystorm to go would be great.

Doesn't seem that you need GTA for this one but it says:

"WARNING: I STILL RECOMEND AGAINST USING THIS ... YOU SHOULD JUST WAIT FOR A FOOL PROOF DOWNGRADER... I TAKE NO RESPONSIBILTY IF THIS GOES WRONG..."

but just read the comments and look if the people have used it succesfully...

Yup CPS2 emu is fully working on 3.02 OE-A and B.

PSP may not have a lot of official support, but it really takes its own on the homebrew front. Great Megadrive, SNES, PC-Engine, Gameboy emulators, plus arcade and old computer stuff, and now with the ability to play PSOne games as well.

Nice.

Thanks for the info. But assuming I do try this, what does it mean when it says "use x loader instead of eloader"? Is xloader a separate program that needs to be installed before the downgrader is used or are they just talking about how you open the files?
....on 3.02 OE-A and B
Do I have to get the A version first or can I just go straight to 3.02 OE-B?

Hmmm I don't really no, but assuming it says this: "
5) Turn on your PSP and goto PHOTO -> Memory stick -> xLoader 280"
it will probably some program or sth that is shipped with the easy downgrader. But read the comments in the dcemu forum for more info.

Nope first A then B. From 1.50 you can directly update to 3.02 OE A, but OE B only contains the hack that enables you to play all PSX games, it's a very small update.

I hope you succeed in downgrading. They use the word "pray" way to much to make people confident in this shit :D

Here's a slight update to the compatibility list:

Cotton Original - working.
Raiden DX - working.
R-Type Delta - working.
Harmful Park - working.
Soukyugurentai - working.
Gunner's Heaven (Rapid Reload) - working.

Here's hoping that they'll include red book audio support comes time for the next update! :D

could only test r-type delta and zanac atm and they are working both flawless, its pretty impressive yes, wonder if its possible to get dodonpachi working with bgm.
btw, how do you manage to play two cd games when it says "please insert disc two"?
