RQ: Psyvariar Revision unit - amount of stages?

Got another noob question. I've retried Psyvariar after seeing some sp's.

When you have to choose your route I always pick the first one. But yesterday I only got to play three stages before I got to the last stage

Then i played it again, and got 5 stages.

tf is going on? How do I make sure I play all the stages?

If I recall that right, you have to get to a certain level to acess harder stages. So if you don´t perform good enough, the game ends earlier. Couldn´t find anything specific on the strategy section, but this is roughly how it works.

Yeah that's it. There are loads of different stages and the level you end a stage on dictates what you can pick next. there are some evil final bosses in this game that you can only get from stupidly high levels only achievable by picking the hardest stages due to the constant buzz potential.

There are 8 stages availble if you're expert at that game order's like that:
1-A
2-A,B,C,D
3-A,B,C
4-A,B,C,D
X-A,B,C,D(true final stage of this game)

The ideal stage order would be 1 -> 2 -> X-A -> 3 -> X-B -> 4 -> X-C -> X-D though I've never got all the way to X-D before.
