Meh. The original game was your bog-standard Euro shmup. I guess it never really clicked with me.

im not a fan of Euro or American shmups (japanese are the alpha and omega of the genre), but this one clicked on me when it got released awhile ago... so i guess ill play the expansion like the original one.

While the game may not be a masterpiece, the music is. Jets'n'Guns has, without a doubt, the best Soundtrack I've ever heard in a shmup, thus kicking Apidya from its throne.

Apparently, the Gold version has 6 new tracks. More Machinae Supremacy - can't go wrong with that.

I object mildly that the term 'euroshmup' is nearly always used in a derogatory sense

i've been playin the game for a couple hours now... and so far, i like it ... its just like the original, but with more gory things, more ships to use, mor weapons n shit... and it looks even better than the original ...

its not a doujin or japanese shmup, but, i like it... if you guys have the chance to try it out, do so, you wont be dissapointed.

PS: euroshmup its used in a derogatory sense, since most of them are really crap... but there are games that stand on their own, offering the player good graphics, and good gaming... like, Steel Saviour or this one, Jets n Guns ... the only 2 EuroShmups i play nowadays.

Japanese shmup > Euroshmup > Bullet Hell

I just realized that I had immense fun playing Jets'n'Guns but I'm still trying to figure out what exactly is so good about Mushihimesama (and many other similar shooters). Mushi has more stylish and consistent graphics, but it's plain boring and repetitive to play. JnG is the opposite with it's insane weapons/add-ons selection and gameplay quirks. The graphics are kind of anarchistic and old school nostalgic. The music fits the action perfectly, although I wouldn't rank it very high as a complete soundtrack (even Mushi has more memorable tracks).

*hoping for the new wave of euroshmups*

well, it your opinon, an its respectable... but for me, this is the order:

Japanese Shmup (general) > Danmaku (Bullet Hell, like you call it) >> EuroShmup ...

like i said in another post, there are just a few notable cases of good EuroShnups... so, its gotta be in the bottom of the list... and even moreso, if there were more notable cases, the list would be the same ... its true that there are crappy japanse shmups, but, thres no point of comparison between jap n euro one... thats just the way it is.

Yeah, ESPGaluda is great! So is Guwange, which revealed it's true beauty in the shmups forum shooting competition. I haven't played the Donpachi games that much... at least the older ones didn't just push millions of bullets at you from the first seconds. I have to do more research. My current favorite among them is actually BeeStorm.

STILL. I don't enjoy Mushi or Ibara at all apart from the graphics and Mushi's soundtrack. Sure it's nice to wreak havoc and blow up beetles and things but in overal they just kind of... well... suck. Nothing happens, just endless dodging. I gave Pink Sweets a couple of go's and it seemed the same but with worse graphics.

One of the best OST's for a shmup agreed. I'm still fond though of the PCEngine shmup music ala gate of thunder, lords of thunder, sapphire, etc.
