First 4 stages Boss Vids at 1-4 rank + Technical Bonus

I can do 1-5 1-6 1-7 boss replays if anyone wants to host them. i only have 50meg webspace from ISP you see:x

Very nice Ex!

Being a Psikyo fan, this is one game I can totally get into. When I buy a PS2, Japanese or modded, I will definitely get this. The one and only time I played this(while in Japan) it was over at 1-4. I remember it was hard as hell, and it'll definitely be a good challenge. Plus dragons are cool.

Do you know Cyvern? :?: A mix of RFJ scoring and Psikyo-style SHMUP. Unforgiveable hard, but nice.

Oh I definitely want to play Cyvern also. I really thought I would get a chance to play that in Japan, but sadly no. Thanks however for mentioning it. :)

My all time favorite "dragon" shmup will forever be Dragon Spirit though.

Not once you've played Dragon Blaze it won't.

Dragon Blaze is definately the best dragon shmup ever, and probably the best thing Psikyo's ever done.

Is the screen all messed up like that when you are playing?

If so you deserve a trophy for getting a TB with out being able to see.

Dragon Spirit handed my ass back to me when I was about seven(the very first shmup I ever played) and Dragon Blaze handed my ass back to me 18 years later. Dragons own me.

Ex_Mosquito: I noticed in your replays you did a lot of bullet herding and wide sweeps, starting from 3 o'clock on the screen, then sweeping to 9 o'clock, etc. Would you say that this is the Psikyo game that you have to do that the most? Of all the Psikyo games I've played, I think, judging from your replays, that seems to be the case.

Nah not really, it depends on the situation really, it just so happens you can out-run the bullets on the sea boss and slowly the 2nd form of the flower boss

If you do not damage the boss too heavy it will show his heart, usually located in the center of the boss. If you shot it with your 'Dragon Shoot' the boss will die instantly and you will be rewarded with a whopping 20.000 points extra. To protect the heart the boss will shoot a massive bullet pattern before showing it up.

Okay this isnt dragoin blaze, but its a gameplay vid anyway. He's a vid of a funny mushihimesama vid my mate did earlier, i go a bit nuts when i die and scream "agh!" :x im the one playing. Play is pretty poor apart from my new strat at 31seconds which i tried and worked. It was a test go if anything to try stuff out, honest:)

Well, I put the codes in MAME's cheat.dat and MAME's history.dat too, and pasted them all on the old shmups board so you don't really have any excuse :-)

Thanks Ex.

Damn stage six bosses of Psikyo games are always tough SOBs.

The Psikyo boss fights are short(usually under a minute), but it feels much longer when you are trying to survive.

Ex, what do you do with the little bee miniboss thing in the beginning of 1-7? I always need a bomb for it.

Great video by the way.

and learning how to dodge the unique bullet patterns for each level outshines any scoring system..one question..Do u have to use the dragon shoot for the TB or can u just use a regular shot like 1999?

Hmm its hard to explain, the main strat is to keep moving and try and memorize when the smaller bees fire the lasers, i could make a replay if you want. Sorry, it's hard to explain shooter strats:)

And you didn't use any bombs, at all? Awesome stuff o_O

Anyway, did you speed up the video or something? I don't recall Dragon Blaze being that fast (referring to the speed of the enemy shots) the last time I've played.

Heya, thanks. Tbh I find the last boss harder with bombs. The patterns require carefull positioning beforehand and i find using bombs spams up the screen making its hard to tell where he is in the bullet sequence when the bomb mess clears up. Morso with quaids bomb.

No, i didnt speed the video up. The reason it looks a little faster that the others is a mixture of my slow pc and the way Ek-mame captures. When i recorded the lastboss, because theres so much on screen the frameskip kicked in, and for some reason when it does this the avi speed comes out a little faster than if there was no frameskip. strange i know. but it was played at 100% speed.
