The first time I played....

I had this idea for a thread when I wanted to play Gunbird for the first time. I wanted to play over MAME and instead of just playing I thought why not recording your first run. So I did it was crap but I still think it might be fun to watch people`s first attempts at games, or if not watch than just listen to how far they got and what they think of the game.

Well enough explanation here's my Gunbird (World) replay, recorded with MAMEPlus 0.108u1 (latest I hope). Got to the 3rd level because I really screwed up at the second boss. The game looks like a masterpiece to me.

I hope some people are willing to try some new games while recording or at least tell their stories bout first tries.

First time I played Strikers 1945 I didn't die until stage 5 and almost beat the boss of stage 6. Every game after that I died all the time. After 2 years of practice, I can sometimes get to the end of stage 6...but usually not.

The first time I played Dodonpachi I got to level 5. I've never seen it since. To be honest, I was bombing like a c*nt all the way through, and my score sucked big time. But it's still my favourite run.

The 1st time I played Raiden Fighters (the china one with the slow bullets) I got to the 2nd to last level. (the 3rd time I played it I finished it)

The 1st time I played DDP:DOJ I got to the level 3 boss.

The 1st time I played GB2, I don't think I got past level 2 (likewise for Strikers 1/2/3). This was early in my "getting back into shmups" phase though.
