Any Pride or UFC fans here?
Without anything getting macho, any one here like watching MMA? Been watching alot recently really addicted wondered if any of you guys felt the same. I know this place isn't sherdog but just curious.

I'm a fan of mma. I used to love boxing but the sport is so utterly corrupt and devoid of real talent, I turned to mma and haven't looked back. I was glad to see Hughes get his ass handed to him at the last UFC event. I'll occasionally watch Pride but it seems like it's always reruns of old fights. At least the UFC has a pretty steady stream of free non ppv fights to watch.

Apologies for not replying sooner, been avoiding my email recently.
Yeah GSP really showed him up, I kinda knew from the moment he walked into the cage he was going to win what with his warm up laps of side stepping, Just looked so confident, then when he got to work his athletiscism was incredible.
What do you think about Sherk stepping down into the light weight division? its where a 5 ''6 guy should be but dam hes explosive. His title match against Florian was brilliant.
Pride has the higher standard but it really scares me! Fights are a bit crazy sometimes weight class wise. Fedor is just phenomenal, Big fan of Wandi Silva.
MMA destroys boxing anyday!

I'm a huge MMA fan.
I attended the last two PRIDE events in Saitama and was ring side for Mirko's Grand Prix win. It was definitely an unforgettable moment for me being a longtime fan of CroCop, ever since his days as Mirko Tigar in K-1. If you watch his fight with Barnett that evening, you can see my friend and I sneaking right up to the front row to get as close as we could to the action. I kept one of the silver streamers that fell when he won as a momento of his long-overdue victory.
My favorite moment of the night, however, was when he nailed Silva with that high kick. My buddy was actually in tears afterwards and hugged me hard enough to crack a rib.
I also attended the K-1 Grand Prix last week at the Tokyo Dome which was fun. PRIDE puts on the best shows these days, by far, but seeing Hoost's final fight in person meant a lot to me.
While I won't be able to go, I look forward to the New Year's' "PRIDE Man Festival" show with Hunt vs Fedor. I expect a quick submission, but Hunt's a lucky fighter and has a chance of tagging Fedor on the chin.

I'm more a fan of striking arts than I am of grappling, but one of my cousins does this stuff so I watch his fights when I can.
I'l agree that boxing hasn't been very good lately, especially above the middleweight division. Too many artless perch and swing sluggers and huggy bears. I hate holding, which is probably why I haven't got into the MMA stuff. Grappling reminds me of boxing at its least interesting.

Watch it on occasion, but We took the K1 belt home again.
Two Dutch men in the final? wtf? Aerts was really surprising.
It's not that off-topic either. I believe both fighters have had pride matches as well. I like pride, but sometimes they just lay on the floor for ages and it gets boring. Then again some k1 matches can get boring as well.
K1 is the best stuff for me on telly. I like nothing better than watching K1, and not because we are doing OK.

Indeed. Schilt has had a couple fights I believe, one was to Fedor in his debut match in PRIDE. Semmy got his shit tossed there. Aerts has fought as well and didn't do so great either.D wrote:Watch it on occasion, but We took the K1 belt home again.

Still, Holland has always dominated K-1: of the 13 Grand Prix's, 10 have gone to Dutchman. Makes me wonder what you guys have in the water over there.
Recently I acquired a veritable library of K-1 tapes. I made a list and have nearly every event from 1993-2001...that's some good watching. My favorite fighter from the 90s is easily Aerts, he was a man to be feared. It made my day seeing him do so well in this year's GP, I didn't think he still had it in him.
However, my favorite fighter overall has always been Jerome Le Banner. Whether he KOs someone or gets KO'd himself, he always puts on a great show. His fights with Hunt are all wars and his battle with Aerts in the '99 GP is arguably the greatest fight in the sport's history.
I think all of the K-1 guys that belong in PRIDE have already made the move, I just hope that K-1 someday can make it back up to the glory days it once saw.

I think it's the milk, potatoes beef and vegetables. But the secret factor must be the milk.
Aerts really surprised me too. I never got to see his old matches and have only seen him in action a couple of times.
I really think he can beat Schilt.
Schilt was like: "take it easy with me". At least that what I could read of of the expresion of his face. He looked like a little kid when Aerts came after him.

I've had the pleasure of a few hours coaching from guys out of Golden Glory, incredible stuff, didn't get to meet Semmy though. Whats in the water lol? something that makes em 6 '10!
Yeah I know of the hotti piss takes, Am I right in thinking about hairstyles lol, think theres a website dedicated to it somewhere, group of guys posing in pics.
Krav Maga gets alot of negative press from the guys I know since its become quite popular amongst californian celebs. I posted a vid on my club forum, everyone attacked it! Any time I hear Tank abbot it just brings back Belforts debut. I hope vitor gets back on top
What did you think of the Fedor-Cro match from Aug 28th? Its my fav match ever, Cro's left leg is amazing his ground game has really come on. I don't like bob sap though, loved it when Cro dropped him with that bone breaker.
I've still got to get into K-1 haven't seen that much of it.

I am beside myself with grief over the events of this past weekend. Hopefully the nightmares will stop so that the healing can begin.

He had to lose eventually. Hopefully he continues to fight instead of retiring after his last contracted fight like he's been hinting at, he seems far from being done physically/skill wise.
The loss will certainly reduce his bargaining power if he wants to resign with Strikeforce or sign with the UFC.

I like to watch a good fight, but dont follow UFC, MMA etc. that closely, but I do watch Brock Lesnar and Kimbo Slice fights, especially Kimbo as I used to watch youtube vids of his backyard stuff.
but he got his ass handed to him and arent in the UFC no more
Re: Any Pride or UFC fans here?
Fedor Emelianenko lost for the first time* to Fabricio Werdum, ending a run of dominance that spanned a decade. Haters may now commence claiming that Brock Lesnar is the #1 HW, while us Fedor "nuthuggers" will argue that Fedor was hitting Werdum with an open palm strike to the leg that Big John McCarthy mistook for a tap.

all i want is a rematch before they give werdum a title shot...bet money fedor beats him second time through
i was looking forward to seeing fedor vs overeem for the belt too
