I dunno... from watching the superplay it LOOKS like my kind of game. I like the music, it's got fairly cool looking bullet patterns (not Touhou... but you know... Nothing is like Touhou for bullet patterns), and the things you can do with captured enemies looks like a very satisfying kind of fun. I guess we'll have to see though eh?

Wow, I felt pretty indifferent to the game until I saw the replay and then felt intrigued by it. As usual, I'll wait until I hear a few first impressions (especially at $60). I mean, there's no creativity in the level design, but other aspects of the game look fun.

Looks like Sega Direct has opened pre-orders. There's a telephone card set, and an as-yet undetermined pre-order present.

From the page, it looks like the DC version is getting a story mode to supplement the arcade mode.

Well, that would make sense with the inclusion of character voice in the game.

We’ve got two new versions to think about ordering, since the Sega Direct editions are now also available for pre-order at Play-Asia.

After the regular and Limited edition, there are now 2 Sega Direct editions.

The regular Sega Direct editie with as extras a Trigger Heart Exelica Phone Card and Segadirect Privilege gift.

And;

The Limited Sega Direct edition with as extras: Soundtrack CD, Trigger Heart Exelica Phone Card and Segadirect Privilege gift.

Now I'm really in a struggle with myself and my wallet. My heart says, buy the Limited Sega Direct edition, but my head says, that gift is probably nothing to write home about and that phonecard isn't that usefull either...

Any links or screens of the game? Don't have a clue what she looks like. If its as good as under defeat I'll eat my hat.

Haha, so are they saying that this will mark the end of Dreamcast, again?

You mean "decorate the end of Dreamcast"?

And really, I gotta say that after that recent interview with Maruyama, that quote pertained more to G-Rev directly (as in it was most definitely their own final DC release).

Waiting patiently for this release. I've seen vids of the naomi version, and they look pretty nice. When I found out that it was the same company that made Shienryu I became pretty skeptical. But Shienryu was many years ago, and they have had plenty of time to change their ways. I'm also looking forward to the release of Last Hope. I hope Karous (sp???) makes it to the DC as well, I really liked Radilgy, and it looks like an appropriate follow up. If it gets a Wii release, I hope that there will be a US version as I've heard the Wii is region locked.

Most consoles are region locked, that's why import boot disks exist.

Only skeptical it wouldn't be as AWESOME as Shienryu, in its cheesy spastic way :P

I've never understood why Shienryu's supposed to be bad. Sure, it's no RS or DDP, but it's got excelent production values, a few neat idieas (I love it ehn enemy units crash instead of just blowing up) and some seriously cool mecha-bosses.

Well, for those interested in importing from a US domestic company on the East Coast, NCSX announced today a pre-order for both Trigger Heart and Last Hope for $53 (regular) and $39, respectively.

http://www.ncsx.com/2006/121106/ncs1211u.htm

After watching the replay, I think I'll grab Trigger Heart. I'm not sold on Last Hope yet...

no clue, even with play-asia's coupon, it's cheaper to order from Yakumo.

I hadn't ordered from them in quite some time, and I'm sure a bunch of people have said it already, but it still absolutely feels like something's missing for Lik-Sang not to be in that list. :(

I'm most likely getting the LE from NCSX, though. They're my home boys. -and home girls.

I bought the Sega Direct LE of Under Defeat at Segagaga and was very pleased with Yakumo's friendly service.

I wonder if the "mystery gift" will make it worthwhile to get the Sega Direct LE this time...

Sold! Shmup + Olympic Hammer Throwing = great idea. The power suit designs in this game remind me of Akitaka Mika's work.

The shipping balances it out, assuming you go for basic airmail instead of courier delivery. For one game, shipping from Play-Asia is usually $3-4, while at NCSX it's more like $9-10.

but then you have to get by customs. I asked play-asia to mark down my purhases to half their value, but even with a $10 or $15 off coupon, I'm worried that customs work make it worthwhile

Icy probably thinks it's too expensive.

Since I'd prefer to get the LE, I might as well buy the Sega Direct LE from Segagaga. Buying the "normal" LE is only ~$5 cheaper if you include shipping and import tax, which you are very likely to pay when buying at Play-Asia...

NCSX are in the US, right? So if you are a US-American you could buy the LE there and save ~$15 compared to Segagaga.

As long as you choose regular airmail (box or enveloppe), you're not likely going to get taxes. I only paid import fees when I had chosen for a courier service (like UPS).

No Ceph, I don't think it's expensive. I probably paid more than that to play it in the arcades, after all. Even $200 would be a bargain to those who are planning to put in 100 hours in the game.

I guess after almost a decade of flagrant exploitation at the hands of numerous Japanese publishers we have lost all perspective, to the point where a full-page buying guide for the various useless trinkets accompanying a new title doesn't even seem funny to us.

Long gone are the days when a masterpiece like, say, Zero Gunner 2 would simply be released in a CD jewel case, and would suffice.

Enjoy the trinkets y'all.

I enjoy LEs with soundtracks, that's all. And since I can get the aditional stuff (albeit unnecessary) for roughly the same price, why not. If there was a difference between prices, I wouldn't.

You mean like Radirgy was? Oh wait, I guess SegaDirect did throw up those refurbished console bundles for it and Under Defeat.

I guess both Warashi and SegaDirect are just following existing LOL LAST DREAMCAST GAME precedent at this point, what with the previous high-profile Limited Edition releases from G.Rev and Alfa System, and to a lesser extent the Trizeal bundle.

Admittedly the LE is good for me, since if they'd released the game and the soundtrack separately I still would have bought both. This way I'm hopefully saving a bit of both time and money.

I wish I would have waited on NCSX now, but I already got a friend to help me order the non-telephone card LE version from SegaDirect (quite a bit less than SGGGDomain or Play-Asia at least). I wonder what sort of amazing mystery gift I've entitled myself to

There was a Sega Direct release of Radirgy that included a phone-card.

And really, nobody should be complaining about an LE release including a soundtrack CD. That's a fairly practical thing to include.
