To me it has always been Volfiev. The first and last letters in the logo look like a "V"

That logo is misleading: if you can read katakana, here's evidence:rolins wrote:To me it has always been Volfiev. The first and last letters in the logo look like a "V"

yeah. Arkanoid is the same way with the logo. It looks like Arkanoiv, though it's actually Arkanoid.rolins wrote:Okay, that makes total sense. I'm afraid you're right - no reason at all. As with "Quarth" the fact that your cursor is shaped as a spacecraft doesn't automatically make a game a shmup.nem wrote:The real question is why the heck would Volfied be put in the Genocide files?
List updated up to this point. Volfied removed.
P.S. the PSP section needs listing all the retrocollections that have been released so far, and I wasn't able to keep on track.

To toss the super-obvious recent announcements up here, I guess Trigger Heart Extension on the DC and the two "Taito Memories 2" packs on the PS2 warrant a mention...I think Karous/Karasu, Raiden IV and Mushi Futari also need to be added to the Arcade section.
Also, I believe that Capcom Classics 2, Shooting Love: Trizeal, and Chaos Field New Order need to be added to the PS2 list. Raiden III needs to be added under "PC." Shikigami no Shiro III also needs to be put under both Arcade and PC. Radirgy GeneriC and Radirgy PreciouS need to be added to the GC and PS2, respectively.

are calling the DC release Triggerheart Exelica. Does Extension show up anywhere aside from the first bit of Insert Credit news? Well, I guess we can worry about it in February
Also, has Raiden IV been released yet? Or just location tests so far?
Nice work by all involved on this valuable resource.

I hadn't checked, to be honest. Well, whichever title is correct you know which game I'm talking about, heh heh.nZero wrote:Does Extension show up anywhere aside from the first bit of Insert Credit news?
Offhand I'm not sure...either way, if it's not out yet it's definitely coming. Also, has Raiden IV been released yet? Or just location tests so far?
Thanks for the heads-up BM! None of the After Burner games fit the shmup definition - whichever you take and as broad as you can possibly conceive it (at least according to our speculation so far - but let's not start another "what is a shmup?" debate).rolins wrote:FM-Towns:

I'll check about Cyber City - and, Awesome? Could it possibly be that Awesome by Psygnosis/Reflections? The one which was homaged even in Lemmings?

Actually, having another look at the lists I've forgotten to mention a few:All your wishes have been granted am I not a nice guy.
Trigger Heart Exelica, Ibara Black Label and Pink Sweets (and maybe Senko no Ronde?) need to be added under Arcade.
Ibara and Twinkle SDtar Sprites: La Petite Princesse need to be added under PS2, as well as two other "Oretachi Geasen" titles: Rabio Lepus and Thunder Cross.
Under Defeat needs to be added under Dreamcast. (I mentioned Trigger Heart before, I don't think it's been added there yet.)
Xyanide needs to be added under XBox.
Robotech: the Macross Saga needs to be added under GBA.
The Gradius Collection needs to be added under PSP, as well as the upcoming Twinbee, Salamander and Parodius Collections. Would Every Extend Extra and Platypus count as worth adding as well? You might want to mention the upcoming Xyanide Resurrection as well...
Also, assuming that a DS section is added, I'd suppose that Nanostray would need to be put there...also the upcoming Nanostray 2, and that other in-the-works title whose name I'm forgetting...Raid Over the River, was it?
There are probably others I'm forgetting, but I'll let you know if/when I remember them...actually, for some of the arcade titles I KNOW I forgot, check this thread.
Well I'm not going to argue, but if After Burner is excluded then Galaxy Force II, Cyber City, Microcosm, Scavenger 4, and Megamorph must be removed from the FM-Towns list. I'll be sad to see them go.Turrican wrote:None of the After Burner games fit the shmup definition - whichever you take and as broad as you can possibly conceive it (at least according to our speculation so far - but let's not start another "what is a shmup?" debate).rolins wrote:FM-Towns:

The game is indeed developed by Psygnosis, not sure if it's the same one featured in Lemmings. I've really no experience with Amiga games.I'll check about Cyber City - and, Awesome? Could it possibly be that Awesome by Psygnosis/Reflections? The one which was homaged even in Lemmings?
I played the first round of Awesome and it plays a lot like Asteroids to me. But I hear this game is suppose to have varied gameplay styles. So I'll have to go back and play it some more to be sure.

Incredible! To think that even Awesome got a Japanese console release! Learning never ends.

That's it! The link you posted shows exactly what the game looks like on the FM-Towns.Turrican wrote:http://hol.abime.net/3352

From the screenshots it looks like there some adventure elements in this game, interesting. I really must back and play this game again.

I've just checked this page after a while, and I see rollins have added some MSX games.
Mirai , completely surely, it's NOT a shmup. It's an open adventure game where your character fly and shoot, but it could hardly be considered a shmup. The game even has some RPG statistics, items and stuff. But as everything is in Japanese, I could never manage to get anywhere in this game. I remember back in the old days, the cracked version of this game was a BITCH to run, it seems it had lots of copy-protection. After I managed to make it run, I got very disapointed as the game wasn't all that hot, and I couldn't figure what the heck I was supposed to do anyway.
Thanx for the memory trip, heh
And if Granada is a shmup, I'd guess Soviet on Spectrum and MSX is also a shmup....
