Actually, MileStone haven't finalized that the "shooting game" being released for the Wii is Karous. That is simply being assumed at this point given that it's their most recent game. Also, MileStone announced plans to release a shooting game on the Wii months ago.

So, it might be Karous or it might be a new game developed directly for the console.

Edit:
Brian: The DC release of THE was already reported here: http://shmups.system11.org/viewtopic.ph ... c&start=90

Who is to say that it won't be released first on Dreamcast?

It's been reported that it's easier to do a DC port from original Naomi code than it is to port for other consoles like the PS2 -- straight from the mouth of Treasure's president himself (as with the case of Naomi Ikaruga to DC GD-Rom version of Ikaruga). ^_~

As said, it's not said that it's going to be Karous on te wii. If it is, I will buy the system for this game alone.

I kinda hope it isn't Wii-exclusive, because I don't really want to have to buy a japanese regioned Wii.

Since the Gamecube freeloader works on the Wii I wonder if it'll boot import Wii games.

Probably not, but it's just a matter of time before someone cracks the Wii's DVD encryption for legal import purposes.

You likely don't need to crack the encryption for import purposes. The gamecube freeloader didn't crack the encryption, it just fooled the unit.

The actual encryption cracking for the gamecube took years. Mostly because no one was working on it for a long time.

Great news, I saw this on neo-arcadia, but I was too lazy to translate and forgot to report to you guys. This should've been my scoop :D
To all non-DC fanboys, the DC livez
Sega rulez, quality prevails.
I doubt if Karous will be ported to the DC. I think Milestone will go commercial with this one and even though they can make a few bucks porting it to the DC. Perhaps as time progresses it will start to itch with some in house developers/porters when they realize that they want a DC port for themselves at home :D

The packaging could be mistaken for a PS2 game.

Mock-ups... but it will be interesting to see if Warashi actually opt for DVD cases.

Hmm yeah, I was wondering about that as well. Do I get a new double jewel case to put next to Border Down LE, a pair of jewel cases in a slipcover to put next to Shikigami no Shiro 2 LE, or a DVD case to put next to Under Defeat LE? La la la...

Hopefully this is in a jewel case, the under defeat dvd case was annoying.

I love the Cosmic Smash jewel case. One that look futuristic like that one would be cool.

It looks as if maybe they've stopped making Dreamcast CD cases and instruction booklets. I think the DVD cases are the easiest option.

They're just like any other jewel case and booklet, so I don't see why it couldn't be done. I could see maybe they'd stop printing DC spinecards...

I could be totally off, but the JAP DC cases I have are slightly thicker than by normal ones... but I'd imagine that they could just use a normal one, I didn't like Under Defeat's DVD case.

From InsertCredit:
The extras have been revealed for the Trigger Heart Exelica Dreamcast release. There's a soundtrack CD and a 'special booklet,' whatever that means. The other addition mentioned on the page is voice during battles.

Yeah, I have a few which are slightly thicker than the normal standard. Sonic Adventure 2 and Capcom vs. SNK 2 come to mind.

Add Spawn: In the Demon's Hand, DOA2 and Grandia 2 to that list. The infamous Sega widecase. I first saw these popping up in Saturn games (I've never seen a Mega CD game come in this style of widecase).

Even the regular non-thick Dreamcast CD cases are different from normal CD cases.

Hint 1: A CD case has "Compact Disc" stampted on it. But DC does not use CD, it uses _D.

Hint 2: Tap the plastic on both with your fingernail.

I think most of Capcom's games come in those thick jewel cases.

If you can get me a Japanese DC for $20 let me know!

The only really unique case I've seen as far as jewel cases go is the Border Down LE case.

Guilty Gear X LE, Fighting Vipers 2, SegaGaGa (non-LE), and O-to-i-re Dreamcast Sequencer are also in this style of case. I haven't seen any late release games using them, though.

How so? Aside from being white rather than black, it looks identical to Mobile Suit Gundam E.F.F. vs. Zeon DX and other multidisc jewel case DC games.
