I guess in the back of my mind I expected to see it come to a console at some point...but the long delay had me worried.
Good news all around though.

Excellent news! At the game center, this and ESPGaluda 2 held my attention more than any of the other offerings this summer. It'll be nice to practice it at home.

I wonder what'll come with the LE version? Soundtrack? Exelica figurine? Both? :P

Supurb, Seeing a new DC game in 2007 is really quite amazing and at least this shows Sega still have the ability to manage DC GD production runs when ready.

I guess we should expect to see Milestones Karous sometime in 2007 too.

Any other DC shmups besides 'Trigger Heart Extension'?

Post by PC Engine Fan X! »

So what other Naomi shmup titles to look forward to besides the forthcoming DC GD-Rom version of "Trigger Heart Extension" in February 2007?

That would be the icing on the cake.
I think my 2007 would be complete if that happens.

I just had a thought (insert sarcastic comment here), Since this is Warashi I wonder if they will include any of their uncompleted Shienryu 2 DC project in the package?

That would be damn interesting to see.

The ol' DC really does refuse to die. But hey, if it means more shmup ports, who's complaining? I'm half-tempted to preorder this whenever that comes about...

Off to the side, anyone want to give a shot to translating this comic strip posted on the Exelica page, just for curiosity's sake?

Wasn't that released as Shienryu Explosion?

Others guess that the arcade-only "Sengeki Striker" was the result of that "project," but I don't think anyone knows for sure.

Sengeki Striker was released in 1997, so somehow I doubt that's it.

However, if there's a less jaggy and flickery version of Shienryu Explosion to be had out of this deal, then I'm all for it.

That's what I'm saying! As long as we keep seeing more ports for the DC, I'm a happy camper. Keep 'em coming, I say.

Every time I hear "Last commercial Dreamcast Game" it never processes in my brain. This is the reason why. :D

Hopefully it doesn't suffer from a poor conversion process *cough* trizealchaosfield *cough*.

Ditto. Along w/ everyone else, I'm really pumped about these 2 apparent releases. The Dreamcast is my second favorite console; the Saturn pulling out a narrow victory. :D

Don't you love how every time the latest Dreamcast game is reviewed the critic says "at least the dreamcast is going out with a bang" (see Ikaruga and Under Defeat)

That would be a trip if the Dreamcast outlives the original xbox...

No, I don't.

And I can't be the only one who enjoys a new shooter (DC) port, but the thrill of it cheating its death has looong past, especially since not many of the post-death ports can match the quality of games that hit domestic shelves for $20-30. Um... Border Down? Shikigami "ported to everything" II?

Um, what about it? It's a great game far better than anything released domestically for $20-$30.

Border Down is one of the few non-cute'em up horis that I truly like. Wasn't Ikaruga technically post-mortem for the dreamcast though? And I wouldn't call Radirgy or Under Defeat even "mediocre" games. Well, Radirgy gets close to the mediocricy line, but UD is really good IMHO. I don't know what all has been released since the technical "death" of the Dreamcast. Oh, Trizeal IS pretty average at best ^_^

How soon we forget Zero Gunner 2, on the very same system! That takes it down a notch, but I've been through that.

Trizeal was my "thrill is gone" moment for the DC. Still, Exelica seems like it could have a redeeming amount of uniqueness that's been lacking in the last 6 or so ports.

(not that Chaos Field wasn't unique...)

Somehow I'm getting a mental picture of Rob and a copy of Chaos Field on adjacent couches in a psychologist's office, tearfully working out their "issues."

I hear that. Gunbird 2 fucking owned Under Defeat...

(Edit: Whoops Image hope nobody caught that )

"That's what he ALWAYS says to me, doctor! He never listens to what I have to say! It's always Takumi this and Takumi that! I can't even LOOK at medals anymore without getting stressed! Can I help it if my individual game systems are derivative and my graphics are unimpressive? That's not my fault! I was my parents' first child, they heaped all the attention on Radir...ooh, I get angry just THINKing about it! He has no problem managing THAT game's high score thread! And another thing..."

What was wrong with the conversion process? It's not like the games got any uglier or crappier than they already were when going from the arcade to the home. Well, Chaos Field needed high-score saving, but there are the PS2/GC ports for that.
Rob wrote:And I can't be the only one who enjoys a new shooter (DC) port, but the thrill of it cheating its death has looong past
The thrill of not having to invest in new systems remains, though. The arcade perfect conversion thing helps too, considering that most people would consider the game aesthetically mediocre in the first place ;)

Melty Blood: Act Cadenza, Senko no Ronde SP, Guilty Gear XX Slash, Monkey Ball, Sega Strike Fighter... and any number of Atomiswave games. We still have to see what happens with Karasu too, assuming it's even very good.

I'm glad we're getting this one.

Nice, I'll be pre-ordering this new Dreamcast title.

Fascinating to see that the Dreamcast has outlived the Gamecube, in terms of commercial software support...
