shmup.com (the french!) are planning STG tournament 2007

Post by KBZ »

So I stumbled by www.shmup.com and noticed this in their Blabla Général section...

http://forum.shmup.com/viewtopic.php?t=6638&start=0

and for those of you who don't speak french, I'll do my best to translate
How's this, for the start of next year, I propose a small tournament consisteing of shmups that were strong sympathetic nerves (twitch? manic?).

The tournament will function as follows....

- one week to vote, and one week of scoring
- no old ass scores, no need for proof or photos. this is all for fun.
- there will be one week for each section of shmups; Cave, hori, bla bla bla..
- For voting, I'll toss up a list with the titles that fall under the category the weekend before voting week starts. You can also vote for games that aren't on the list.
- anyone can vote, even people who are not taking part in the tournament
- If you want week for other shmups, don't hesitate to tell us.

I'm puting this up now to get a good idea of what kind of interest this is, and to make sure it goes as smoothly as possible.
I've put together trial list this evening. (I hope that most will be able to play these shmups whether it be on pcb, console, or emulators.)

Thank you in advance.

IF they're planning STGT 2k7 and here's the problem not everyone has naomi/dreamcast shooters aha and also Chaos field, psyvariar 2 and shikigami no shiro 2 are also for ps2 without scoring changes i think :/

There's absolutely no reason to refuse foreign people in the tournament. As long as you've subscribed and post, that's ok. There's an english-speaking section btw.

Whoa, I would be able to play a lot in that trial list! I guess I was just extremely unlucky with Edge's tournament.

Ha ha ha.
*irony mode on*
I wonder where you're from because whatever country, you probably never made as many wars as we have won.
*irony mode off*

Anyway, I seriously don't know why we have this reputation. Does anyone know? I would be interested to know.

I wouldn't go there right now. rest assured that most north american schools don't teach shit about french history, so such comments should either be taken as a silly joke, or as an uneducated remark best left ignored.

ya they don't have a name for the tourney yet. I just said STG tournament 07 to describe it.

Is that something which makes you proud? Winning many wars? Jeez - what a 19th century mentality. I think some of best pages from your (our) history are pages of defeat.

From Ultimates, an Avengers comic book which had tremendous success in the States. in the previous page, the mandatory nazi-alien enemy just suggested to Cpt. America to surrender.

Nice one. I'm far more educated about your History than mine anyway so I couldn't counterattack ha ha.

That would be nice if the people who intend to take part also take part in the forum's life and not only subscribing to crush the players once in the year.

We have limited internet lifetime. How many shmup(s) forums can we sustain?

Anyway, sure, the tournament idea is cool. After playing just one game last time, I was left hungry for some more. Then again, I don't want to be a burden to any team just because I cannot emulate right now - so my entry is in doubt.
