to be honest, all this stuff is basically bollocks. it's called the placebo affect. chewing gum doesn't make my eyes better, my brain sharper, my movements more accurate. it's just a slight mental distraction, which i think can help, but more importantly, makes you think "now that i have [X] i will play better". i heard greg rusedski does a similar thing with tennis balls - ie if he loses the point, he throws the ball away; if he wins the point, he requests the same ball back.
it's all in the mind.
it's all in the mind.

Beer, obviously!
Oh wait, that's toxic.
I dunno; I'm a terrible player, and I eat about as healthy as possible (I had my first soda in a year last weekend, and it was mixed in with orange juice, heh  Ditto for fast food - haven't touched anything unless you count no-cheese, meat-veggies-Italian Subway).
But I find out that I have time periods when I *feel* most able to play, and if I'm lucky when I go to my machine I'm at that point. If not, well, I'll bang my head against the wall for half an hour trying to make some progress and give up.
Placebo effect wouldn't really work on me, I wager. Too analytical to be fooled by that nonsense.

Several fruitful years of prolonged Raizing training. ^_-DEL wrote:Then explain your Batrider 'A' score gained at 5am![]()

I had actually went to bed early that night, and ended up only sleeping a couple of hours before waking up again. So I spent the rest of the night watching anime and films, and played a bit of Batrider. That was only the third credit of the night. I went back to bed straight after that credit. ^_-

I'm too cynical to believe in the Placebo effect. I never felt safe as a kid because I had a security blanket. I had a blanket because as a kid I was skinny and got cold easilyEd Oscuro wrote:Placebo effect wouldn't really work on me, I wager. Too analytical to be fooled by that nonsense.
I do believe that having a healthy body leads ot a healthy mind, and thus, could possibly improve performance. Mostly I just play when I feel like it. If you are fighting the current, you likely won't perform as well.
