Nah man, we're still cool

But seriously...

lynchy needs to go and buy it, cos I'm kinda creating an army of Gekirindan fans that will force Taito to make a similar game.
or else
I'm all in favour of crappy games (see Change Air-Blade apparently) but Gekirindan never really pulled me in as I would've hoped.
As for lynchesque, if he gets it for Saturn it had better be cheap, I often see it go for prices that are more whack as I'd call it.

I have no choice but to get most, if not all of the games mentioned in this thread. I love the saturn and have no problem spending money on it...

I might sell one of my two copies of Radiant Silvergun so I can knock out a few titles quickly. Problem is that I was going to save the RS proceeds to get Border Down L.E. :?

There was a Saturn port? any big differences to the arcade version? I love this game honestly. I think the art style is the reason, but the game is pretty damn fun either way.

I'm with you. I have a nearly complete Saturn shooter collection and Gekirindan remains one of my favs. The port was sloppy, but the game is great (TATE mode only - the YOKO modes make a poor port even worse).

I've got wierd tastes - I like Gekirindan better than Taito's Layer Section (can't stand the auto-centering drift on the ship, the larger ship size and the overall lock-on mechanism which I found done better in Sokyu) and it remains a guilty pleasure (that is, a game others generally don't like but I always find myself playing and enjoying). Gekirindan has a good combination of trippy Zuntata music, trippy visuals and trippy time-travel theme. It's groovy. The Saturn port, while poor, is still very playable in TATE mode.

To each, their own.

Batsugun is easily my favorite saturn shooter and probably the first game I'll get if I ever get a saturn again. I can't comment on a lot of those, but Batsugun is a must have.
Feedback will set you free.

That's an understatement. I just got this game in the mail (it's on pause right now, I just had to post). OMFG,
this one of the best shooters EVER. Batsugun is a twitch player's wet dream...

The type-b ship's firepower is GARGANTUAN and what's more is in the special mode the hitbox is very small, allowing you to weave in and out of true oldschool BULLET HELL. I know some of this has been said before but screw it, I had to say it again. Sorry for the orgasmic post...

I have to get back to the action, if any of you do not have this game get it IMMEDIATELY. :D

I watched a replay of Armed Police Batrider, and it does look very cool. One thing though, I saw what appeared to be a bunch of intentional deaths which screamed Battle Garegga-esque rank control, which would irritate the shit out of me. If Batrider has rank, how nasty is it, and how important is the control, and how complex is it? I could deal with a certain degree of rank system, but Battle Garegga's just isn't my thing. Dying on purpose is always counter-intuitive also which is irritating.

Stay away from the majority of Raizing games and Ibara, then.
And when someone calls suicide play and rank control "counter-intuitive" I get the urge to garotte them with piano wire.

no, this is counter-intuitive

"sure hey here's a ton of these bombs, but we'll cut your pay to about 1/50 if you ever dare to use them to prevent enemy fire from hitting you"

"....WHAT?"
so long and tanks for all the spacefish
unban shw
<Megalixir> now that i know garegga is faggot central i can disregard it entirely

Saving your bombs for more score makes more sense to me than running your ship to its doom intentionally =/

Using your bombs up to score more makes more sense to me, than being forced to save them and then end up getting killed with 6+ in stock.
By the way, "running your ship to its doom intentionally" = kamikaze. Sound familiar?

If people say that the strategy of intentionally destroying one's ship is anti-intuitive, it probably's because as far as the sum of their gaming experience is concerned, it is.

From Space Invaders to Pac Man to Ghosts N' Goblins to Double Dragon to Final Fight to Ninja Gaiden to Devil May Cry to Street Fighter to The Legend of Zelda to Dragon Warrior to Combatribes, getting hit = bad.

...and then, finally (maybe?), one encounters a Raizing game.

Well, Battle Garegga was my first encounter with a raizing game. Perhaps it was just too overwhelming all at once with it's stupidly intricate rank system. I can appretiate why people like the depth in the shooter, and why it's so widly popular, but me? I'll stick with Ikaruga, Mars Matrix, ESPGALUDA, DDP, DDP:DOJ, Under Defeat, Perfect Cherry Blossom, etc. There's a large enough selection of various shmups, that I won't hurt myself too badly by missing out on Raizing's silliness -_^ And, if down the road I DO feel like trying to figure out how to play that game... Well I probably won't bother selling it, so it'll be around.

Thing is, Raizing games aren't bad! They're just different and take getting used to. I had lots of fun figuring out when to use what shot, unlocking optional bosses and figuring out where the medals were in Batrider. There's lots to do in a Raizing game.

Daioh never got a home port, just Shienryu did...I just mentioned it because the two play sort of similarly.
