Speaking about the Dreamcast release, we will handle everything equal to the AES in terms of quality, playability and paperstuff. We do like the japanese style most, so this version will be japanese with orange borders. It also will be a pixel perfect port optimized for the Dreamcast standards.
As for the extras and spinecard, this is not decided yet but will be considered. Expect for the cart sticker as there's no cart.

Thank you very much for the answer. I appreciate it.
Glad to hear you are looking into extras and Spinecards. If you'd need help/refference in making it truly look like a DC release you might want to check with Yakumo from the Segagaga Domain website. He was kind enough to make the paperwork and spinecards for Under Defeat so it could be converted from the DVD case style to look like a normal (CD case style) DC release.
Not saying you can't do an equally well or even better job though.
Just thought I'd let you know. He offered to make them for free (see Dreamcast Scene forum) anyway if DC Last hope would't look that way.

that's very cool. has he done that for SEGAgaga? wait i have the limited edition. i think the regular vers came in a cd case?
Damn Tim, you know there are quite a few Americans out there who still lives in tents due to this shitty economy, and you're dropping loads on a single game which only last 20 min. Do you think it's fair? How much did you spend this time?
So the preorders for this should open up in the next month or so? Looks like a sweet game for us horiz fanatics, and much as I'd love it on MVS, I couldn't afford it if they did release it. I'll be buying one on DC for SURE though.
Any idea on prices yet? Around $50-60 or so I'd assume? Also, will there be any extras available or has that been determined? And how many copies will be produced for the DC? I don't want to miss this one.

He's the man behind the website called Segaga Domain (not an official Sega site, but a fansite). He helped out a lot of people by ordering the Sega Direct version for them (he lives in Japan and can ordr at that site, something people outside of Japan can't do directly). After the game was released he just took the time and to make inserts for the game as pictured and a spinecard so the game wouldn't look out of place in a collection of Japanese DC games. This is NOT official work for Sega or G.REV, but it could be mistaken as such if you wouldn't know better.
Oh and both the LE and regular release of Under Defeat came in a DVD case.
A game is like a pet, it needs a place to call its own (like a dog has a doghouse). The jewel case is its bed, the booklet its blanket, and the spinecard its pillow.
If possible, a reg card would be appreciated as well . Seriously, make it as complete as possible. I'll probably get the DC version, it looks awesome to me.

I was actually talking about Segagaga here not Under Defeat. There was a regular edition in a CD case. I have the limited box set, the game in that set was a DVD case. I prefer the CD cases, wish no one ever switched to dvd cases. They take up more space and are harder to keep in good shape.

I think I'll wait until the website officially says pre-orders for the DC version are open. Play-Asia has a habit of jumping the gun with their pre-orders, and what they charge.
I played this game at a Neo-Geo meet a few months back, and I must say that the game is mediocre,at the very best...
YES!!!! now I deffinately have to buy it

B-
Don't mind this wuss, he's probably in his period.
Come on guys, this is a release just like feet of fury, if you like the homebrew scene and shmup scene at all you should just buy this release. If you don't, than don't complain about the lack of shmups on the next gen consoles. If games like this already don't make it due to a lack of interest of the community, why would a big company risk putting all their money in a big shmup project...

So people should support mediocre games "for the good of the community" and because it's homebrew? Hell, I'll get started on a Space Invaders -clone in QBasic right away, port it to DC and ask $10 for it.
Not saying Last Hope is mediocre because I've only seen the videos, but I've never been a fan of R-Type's "tactical" gameplay (as it's cleverly advertised here). I'm sure there are people who have longed for a memoriser, there hasn't been one since R-Type Final.
No matter how good a game is, somebody will always hate it. No matter how bad a game is, somebody will always love it.
It maybe called last hope, but its a new hope for the Dreamcast scene, as Last hope comes second after the PS3 in Top sold items of last week.
The list:
Back when Beggar Prince was getting ready to be released, a few mail order companies like Video Game Depot began taking pre-orders. When the game was finally released, they waited and waited for their allotment to be shipped to them, but it never was. Eventually, they had to cancel each order because Super Fighting Team appeared to be a dick about things, by not returning phone calls and never sending the games. In the end, the only place to get it was from Super Fighting Team's website.
Here we are a year later with Last Hope, and Play Asia's taking pre-orders left and right (though the game's website saying nothing about being able to pre-order it). Is this going to turn into the same type of Beggar Prince cluster fuck, or is Play Asia legitimately taking pre-orders (in other words, do they have permission from the Last Hope team to be accepting them)?
Play-Asia has permission for taking Last Hope Dreamcast preorders. They were just a little bit overhasty and already publicized the game's availability while this isn't officially announced yet. Many other retailers will also accept preorders very soon.

I'd rather not order it from Hong Kong because I'd like to avoid import tax/expensive postage/unnecessary waiting. Who will be selling the game inside the EU?
