Does a copy of Strikers for ps1 warrent 19.00 usd?

Post by Pixel_Outlaw »

I was wondering if I should buy Strikers 1945 for ps1. Is it a good game. Well I did like Mobile Light Force I would hav preferred a port of the real gunbird however. Is strikers 1945 a decent game? I'm not really picky about my shmups as long as they are well done in traditional pixel art or 3d. I thought 1942 was a bit repetative is 1945 the same?

No, this game is not Space Invaders.

You can try Strikers 1945 in MAME or the like if you want to test it out: just be aware, the US version of the game titled "Strikers 1945" (I assume that's the one you're talking about) is actually the arcade title Strikers 1945 II, not the original. I haven't played the PS1 version, though supposedly the US version is good, except that it's missing the tate screen option.

Are you talking about the Strikers 1945 released here in the US? That's actually Strikers 1945 II. This US version does not include tate format, so it's not the best version. The game, however, is absolutely classic, widely agreed to be a top 25 shmup. The price you mention would be ok if it's new, but you might want to wait and import a better version of the game-- probably the best is the one for Jap PS1.

1942 is developed by Capcom (Capcom made no good shmups); while Strikers 1945 is developed by Psikyo, the developer for Gunbird (a.k.a. Mobile Light Force). :o

And as Psikyo games got similar gameplay and style, so if you like Gunbird, I guess you should like Strikers 1945 too. :D

Hmm I guess the simular styles caught my eye. I'm a total sucker for classic styled sprites with limited colors. Partially becaue I love to make old school graphics with ms paint. I think i spent 5 hours on one piece and it ended up being 128x128 with around 14 individual colors total.

For Pixel_Outlaw,

I'd recommend picking up either the original Japanese PSX version of Strikers 1945 II that was produced by Psikyo or the Success Superlite 1500 version of Strikers 1945 II -- they both have the original arcade "Tate" screen orientation mode.

Unfortunately, Agetech axed out that "Tate" feature with the USA PSX version of Strikers 1945 game, although there are rumors about getting access to the "hidden" Tate version of Strikers 1945 via some Gameshark codes -- (I haven't seen any such PSX USA 'Strikers 1945' Gameshark codes that could fix that removed "Tate" option though)..... ^_~
