Oddly enough the manual for castle shikigami 2 calls it mobile light force quite a lot. seems they WERE gonna do the MLF3 treatment, but were talked out of it. lol.
Anyway, yes there's a lto less for them tto butcher on Raiden 3.
Now i wish they'd grab Gradius GAiden. The game needs ZERO localization. NONE. WHY WHY WHY was it not released here?!?!

If XS ever uses that f*cking Charlie's Angels cover again I will buy a bus ticket out to wherever the hell their business office is in Cali or whatever and go Jay & Silent Bob on their amateur @sses!!!
They used it for Gunbird, they used it for Castle Shikigami 1....the only thing that changed was the f*cking LOGO!!!

The world would be a better place if there were less shooters and more dot-eaters.

Yeah, I've noticed that. I have yet to look on a map to figure out where in Ohio they are. If they were nearby, I might go and visit. Not that they would have time for me.jpolz wrote:XS Games is based in Ohio.Blade wrote:If XS ever uses that f*cking Charlie's Angels cover again I will buy a bus ticket out to wherever the hell their business office is in Cali or whatever and go Jay & Silent Bob on their amateur @sses!!!

Okay, now I am finally on the side of those that can say "I have the JP version". I like to play through it every now and then, but it is nothing like the good ole Seibu games. (I am being EXTREMELY nice there!)
With that being said...
I agree with most of the posts that any shmup coming stateside is a cause for rejoicing. I am glad that most of you shmuppers will get a crack at this game. Will you like it? Hmmm...I will get a kick out of reading the posts!
And I don't think XS can screw up any of the game as long as they can refrain from putting Charlie's Angels on the cover!
And if this game gets down to $9.99, just buy it. It's a member of the Raiden family.

This just made my day!
I LOVE traditional shmups, and why not port Raiden III over to the US, given the name recognition that the series has over here? I still plan on getting the Swap Magic discs, but this is still awesome news!
OT, great to see that XS is bringing back Red Star, I was so looking forward to this title, and was sorely dissapointed when it was cancelled. Thank you XS!!

Yeah, XS games has nothing about either game on their site.J-Manic wrote:I went to EBGames and GameCrazy today. Neither had any info in their computers about Raiden III. I guess it'll be a while until we get an official release date.

Hah! I never noticed that before. Sure enough, the manual to that game discusses the 'mobile light force 3 attack' and it isn't a mistake, they take the damn thing seriously. Oh well, it is still far better than the 'your dog will suffer' line from mobile light force 2.zaphod wrote:Oddly enough the manual for castle shikigami 2 calls it mobile light force quite a lot. seems they WERE gonna do the MLF3 treatment, but were talked out of it. lol.

Well, XS does have forums, so I'll get on there and ask around. They always have someone from the company on there.
EDIT: Great, they no longer have forums.

I don`t care much for Raiden, but I feel that it is my duty to link to an excellent Raiden review by this UK journalist:
http://worldofstuart.excellentcontent.c ... aiden3.htm
I never read so many well written reviews in a long time. He also likes to bash the modern game industry quite a bit.

What... you didn't care for Kohtaro's brilliant line? How can you not love hearing "HANG IT UP, SUCKA!" each time you get tagged?CMoon wrote:Hah! I never noticed that before. I've sent them 2 emails on the subject, and they've never even bothered to answer. I may try calling them.Skyline wrote:According to their site, the "corporate office" is now in New York City.jpolz wrote:XS Games is based in Ohio.
I'd suggest flooding their e-mail inbox showing support for the game's upcoming release. If anything, just to increase the number of printed copies a little.

Any new info on raiden 3 for PS2 in USA?
I was excited to read that Raiden 3 was coming over to the US for release on PS2 but it seems like the release date has come and gone and no new info has come out!
Even though this game doesn't seem to be highly regarded, any shmup is cause for me to celebrate since we don't get many at all here in the states.
Anyone heard anything new about the release of Raiden 3 here in the US?

^ Have you even played their release of Castle Shikigami 2 yet? it shows that they've learned from their MLF follies. Yes, they did almost call it MLF 3 (as indicated in various parts of the instruction manual), but they pretty much kept everything else in tact. TATE mode is still present, and even though the voice acting is atrocious, there's thankfully, an option to mute it.
After Castle Shikigami 2, I have faith that XS Games won't butcher Raiden III.

Agreed, but there is absolutely no indication on any video game site that we'll be getting Raiden III over here. XS Games' website STILL has not been updated, either. Looks like another Japan and Europe only shmup. The fact that we're getting jipped out of this, and Taito Legends 2, really ticks me off.Xexyz wrote:^ Have you even played their release of Castle Shikigami 2 yet? it shows that they've learned from their MLF follies. I don't know about you guys, but I love the translation of Castle Shikigami 2. It's not quite Zero Wing, but it's still good. You can tell it's pretty much a direct translation (almost like they used babblefish?). Funny stuff.
I'm all for more shooters being released in the US, I just wish they'd bring over some of the better stuff instead of the mediocre stuff.
