damn right i need a saturn, ive been playing games all my life and have only just really got into shmups properly over the last year, id never even heard of ikaruga or radiant silvergun till about that time, looks like ive got some catching up to do
Seriously though listen to Prof up there. How far can you get in each on one credit? Give it a go and get over to the hi score thread! Dragon Blaze can be soul destroying but if you can put in some time it is far more rewarding to put in a bit of time on what yuo already have than to buy more. The gunbird pack alone could have given me 3 years worth of pure fun and punishment.
the only ones i can do one one credit are steel dragon ex and psyvariar.
can get to halfway through level 7 on Raiden 3
halfway through chapter 4 on ikaruga
halfway through level 4 of Homura

others i dont really play, I dont play shmups the right way, Usually i master the first few levels but dont practice enough on the later ones, so i end up with a fairly goodscore for early levels then get destroyed on the harder ones
No such thing as the right way to play a game mate, it's all about fun. And respect to your for the half way through level four in Homura. stage 3 boss destroys me every time!
Also that's pretty far into Gradius V as far as i'm concerned too. I think i managed stage 3 before deciding it wasn't for me.
No psikyo love? I suppose their games aren't to everyone's tastes but i would personally judge them as masterpieces (well most of their verts anyway) in game design.
