What was the VERY first shmup superplay you have ever done?

Post by Adigun A. Polack »

Hello once again, proud and awesome shmuppers!!! ;)=b

Now, I can remember back in 1994 or 1995 when I have recorded my very first no-miss superplay of the SNES shmup Thunder Spirits on my VCR from start to finish as I played.... DAMN, this brings back great memories to me!!! :D ! Look, clearing a rather hard game like that is one thing, but recording it and clearing it in one single life at the same time indeed.... now that is worth precious sparkling memories to us, I must tell you for real!!!

So with that in mind, what was your very first superplay you have ever done, and if you can, when did the whole shmup superplay experience first start in your life? That is a question that all shmuppers who have done superplays like that would be *really* interested to answer, you know that?

See you later, and I believe this topic would be such an excellent time to reflect back a little bit now!!! :cool:

Samidare was the first time for me, since I was introduced to FRAPS back then.

planning on doing one for ASV when I get the chance. I can beat that game like clockwork no matter how many times I play it. (though I usually skip most everything in the first level to get the napalm.) I just need a controller so I can play it without button-freezing that comes from holding alot of buttons at the same time on my keyboard.

I never released any of mine. I had a no-miss Gradius V type 1 video but lost it when my drive crashed. The thing was over a gig though.

All the rest of my replays are in mame-INP form and I wouldn't consider any of them superplays as they are usually just 1st loop clears.

The only one I've released was a decent Rayforce STG 1 run with custom music by me.

My first (and only so far) replay was the current A.P.Batrider Normal Course record at the International Shooter Meet in Milan;
7,161,500 - DEL - ALL - Strawman (A) / Carpet (C) / Flying Baron (B)

My biggest regret is that I didn't record a Border Down 6D ALL run when I was up to scratch on it :cry: .

First replay I ever had was an R-Type run on VHS given to me by a friend that frequented a busy, competitive arcade, around a decade ago. First replay I ever recorded was a crap Battle Garegga run up to stage6 using the Golden Bat, getting just under 8mil, to test a newly acquired video capture card.
