Blue Wish Ressurection - Doujin Shooter

The new version (0.50) has 5 levels, two ships, and (maybe, because i could not unlock them) 3 difficulty? modes, heaven, original and hell. Full joystick support, a really shitty music, and you can change the color of the bullets (only one color tough).

You have 2 ships, and they have a spread shot (tab button 1 or hold button 3), a forward shot (hold button 1, it also slows down your ship like dodonpachi), and a bomb (button 2). Ship 1 spread looks like batsugun typea and the forward looks like typeb. Shib 2 spread has a snakey wiggly effect and forward looks like the one in dimahoo/greatmahou. Also the ships have a bit of too much firepower, like batsugun, and an a really tiny hitbox, like later cave games.

Autoguard (works like autobomber in some raizing games) is on by default. The scoring system is weird, but it looks like you get more points when you destroy the enemies from point blank.

You need to fiddle with the game files to run it fullscreen. I think no tate mode is or ever will be supported... :(.

I played this. I couldn't say I enjoyed it. Although I think it was only 'Blue Wish' not resurrection.

Blue Wish is a older game. Kinda like (Do)Donpachi or (Great) Mahou Daisakusen.

Will check it out. Played version .001 or whatever it was with 1 stage, and the 1st Blue Wish. Really nice games, look like shit but play fantastic.

Great game very "Cave-ish". I personally like the graphics they have a nice shine to them. I actual think the game is quality enough for a full release, and could easily stand up against most comercially released shmups. But still I'm very happy it's freeware. You really can tell allot of work was put into this.

Quick question how do you full screen it?

Pretty cool game, I seem to remember the medals flying straight to your plane even when holding fire (not sure if I like that).

It's alright I personally don't like the mixed graphics I like my graphics consistant. All of one type, no pixely scaled up sprites with other blurred sprites please...

Open the file screen.txt and change the 1 in the first line to a 0.

My first impression is that thats a pretty fine shmup. Most elements are ripped straight from Ketsui (normal shots, the score cubes, bombs) with some DDP DOJ patterns thrown in the mix. The bullets look really good, as do the ships shots. Backgrounds and enemies are not that hot, but still good for a freeware game and nothing that destroys the fun.

And I like the music! Reminds me of ESPGaluda, the boss tunes are more SNES-Metal style. Most bullet patterns are okay, with the typical Cave "stream of suiciding enemy" segments. And while the patterns get a bit repetetive in-stage, the boss ones are really great, especially later on. Actually this is the first freeware shmup since Warning Forever and Tumiki Fighters that I really enjoy. Thumbs up!

EDIT: Just tried out Edens Edge, and that thing is a hommage to Mushihime (excluding the nice player sprite that looks more like Espgaluda). Music sounds more professional on this one.

Well, the graphics arent that good but they work well. But the music is so AWFUL, come on...
The option to turn the bgm off does not work. But you can change all the music on the game, just mess with the files on the bgm folder, the game works without them... :)

Gotta try their other games... :P

If someone speaks japanese, please report a bug to the developer of the game... when you go to replay, and you go all the way to the right then all the way to the left, then up, you will see the negative replay slots .... :p

I really don`t get what you have against the music, I like it much more than the bgm in Imperishable Night for instance. Maybe you don`t like the euro-dance genre itself... true, its not Namiki or Sakimoto, but what do you expect? It´s far above average for a freeware-shooter. (Then again, I loved what I heared from Pink Sweets so far, and that is certainly not everybodies case either )

And as for the "Heaven" and "Hell" difficulty levels...maybe they are not finished and therefore avaiable in the final version (since this is 0.5). Boy, I really dig this game. The scoring system works a bit like Ketsui indeed, get as close as possible to enemies to get higher points; though there doesn`t seem to be a counter system like in Ketsui. The bosses even have multiple destroyable parts! Maybe this guy cleans some of the graphics up a little and finishes the other difficulties because I keep dying all over the place - though the patterns rarely gets unfair, which is an art in itself to program.

Also, the controls feel really smooth. The transition between tapping and pressed shot is a bit slow, but besides, its really working well.

If that's the game I think it is, IIRC it's more of a tribute to Mars Matrix, as it's got the same sort of "item chaining" thing going. "Green Wind" (by the same guy) also looks sort of Mushi-ish, but its scoring system is sort-of combination of Galuda and Giga Wing.

Considering the music: I you don`t like it, simply replace it. My boss music (the only tune I don´t really like) is replaced by the final boss theme of Guwange 8) . Simply go to the bgm folder, and replace the mp3s with your own (they must have the same name of the files you replace, obviously). Reminds me of the days I had Radiant Silvergun music running in Warning Forever.

Version 1.02 is up!

This time, you have the added heaven and hell modes (like easy and ultra) and two additional bullet colors (green and red). Some cosmetic changes have been made, bosses now explode with some debris, and larger enemies as well as destroyable parts on bosses have now little health meters.

Here's the direct site link to d/l this particular Blue Wish Resurrection v1.02 -- is a whopping 56.5MB file. So for the wee 56K users is my word of advice, stay away from this d/l..... ^_~

After playing for a bit methinks this is a nice follow-up to the first Blue Wish. The larger screen is nice for starters, and it seems that the difficulty has been upped a bit (speaking nothing of the new "Accel" mode). The "treasure chests" are a new addition as well, and require you to do a little bit of exploring, and the "shot bombs" are a bit different too. The Blue Wish and Blue Hope are much the same as before save some cosmetic changes, but the Blue Peace, while it retains its handy-dandy homing shot, is REALLY weak now...as in, "midbosses time out if you don't bomb them" weak. In exchange, though, it can bomb now. Haven't unlocked the fourth ship yet. Still has the nice separate high score tables and stage select mode that (imo) all shmups should have.

Can't do a heckuva lot better for a free game: I hope x.x does "resurrections" of some of his other games too. :)

I finally decided to try this. Tried running v1.02 on three different computers, got just a black screen each time. Esc works, and if I wait about 10 seconds and then mash the controls, some BGM starts playing, but that's all. Fullscreen/windowed makes no difference, and the other line in screen.txt doesn't appear to either. Does it need Japanese font support or something?

Wow, I guess I missed when BWR was actually finished. This looks like an awsome cave tribute!

Anyone know if there is a Tate option?

It's quite good for a doujin game. Feels too generic and rip-off-ish for me to really enjoy it and play it seriously though. Especially if you have any other Cave game lying around to play. But for free, no one should complain really.

I don't think there's a TATE option, I'd like to try that out myself!

That would be sweet.
I've not seen any doujins with a tate option. Are there (m)any?

Could be a frequency issue. That kind of stuff can happen on fullscreen apps.

Unfortunately, I don't know specifics that can help correct this problem.
