After Homura, Twinkle Star Spirits: La Petite Princesse and Mushihimesama we get another great budget release on the PlayStation 2: Ibara! I wanted to pick it up quite a while now, but everytime something held me back. But for this price (23 euro), I'm going to pre-order it. Too bad it's not gonna be under the Christmas tree though...
Actually, you guys have gotten a notable amount more on the shmup front than we have this generation...don't know enough history off the top of my head to comment on anything earlier though.
Talked about games in generall but didn't know we got more shmups than the states... can't think of one title that we got and the states not, though, but i didn't follow that too much.
See you never stop learning. Can't get homura within germany though, but after reading a review it might be worth getting from somewhere in europe... uk maybe. Why are there so many shmups released in europe but not in the states? Would have guessed the arcade scene in the states is slightly better than here... at least in germany it's near to impossible to find a shmup arcade.

I doubt that their reasoning has anything to do with arcade popularity. It's probably more that there's a bigger market for budget titles in the UK. That'll happen when full price games cost 50% more than the American version.
Europe regularly gets screwed on releases, but at least we got Shenmue II on the Dreamcast. I'm grateful for that.
Am I the only person that thinks Ibara sucks? I've tried over and over to get into it but I find it easily to be Cave's worst game. It seems the kit prices reflect that as well, being that ECL is having trouble dumping brand new kits for $300...

Hopefully Pink Sweets is better.
Raizing is an aquired taste. If you don't like Ibara, you will absolutly hate Pink Sweets, which is also Raizing through and through.

Agreed. Raizing games have a vastly different feel and gameplay style to most other game developers, and as Dave said, it's acquired taste. If you dislike one game, chances are you'll probably hate the rest of their back catalogue. And Ibara Pink is definitely Raizing styled.
In before BulletMagnet misinterpreting the above paragraph and starting another argument. ^_-
Seriously though, Raizing stuff has really hit well with me. for the past 2 weeks I haven't played anything but Raizing games and the occasional DDP. I mean damn, they're fun at a level I thought wasn't possible.

I'm not a big fan of it, but it's because I suck at it's scoring mechanism. I've never liked Raizing's scoring. The game does have really good bosses though. And ya gotta love that voice when the title screen shows up.
SiKrAiKeN: While I don't think everyone here -is- a Ninja Turtle, I DO believe everyone here has the potential to be a Ninja Turtle. No doubt.
Love Garrega, don't really care for Ibara. Not sure what it would take to make this game more to my liking. It's OK.
Of course, I didn't like Mushi either. Just having a bad run with Cave's productions lately. Personally I think they could slow down a bit.

Eugenics: you know it's right!
I just checked Taito Japan's site, and the Ibara "taito best" version is now gone from their release schedule. So it's official. I wonder if this is also the definitive end of the contract between Taito and Cave?

You mean that ultra-manly EEEEBWWRRAAARAAAH? I love that. I could buy that game for the announcer voice alone. And Bonds voice is ace too. BUUMBAAH! Dyne, on the other hand, is more like "Bumba...???"
I don´t want to stray too much OT here, but is it true that the announcer voices were done by someone from the programmer team or something in Garegga/Batrider/Ibara?
