I don't want to start an argument with you, GaijinPunch, as I respect you. But isn't that being a tad hypocritical? (At the moment I'm not sure if you were aiming that comment at me.)
Of course not. I was aiming it at starting a whole thread about shmups and how lame it is, at neogeo.com. (and as well about the Assembler one which I couldn't find). I've never participated in a single thread at ng.com, and have only looked in a few, but from what I know, it's the pandora's box of the internet. I find it ironic that people would moan there about people here. But then again, the formula holds true for one "community" verbally attacking another.

I think your link to the thread was fair game... it's completely relevant and on-topic to this thread. Apologies if it came off as me pointing fingers at you. I replied at 3AM, just after getting home, so perhaps didn't word it so well.

The most disappointing thread ever. Nothing like painting people you don't know with a broad, pathetic paintbrush, is it?
Damn, i was kinda hoping someone would bitch about me in that one.

Thats okay. I wasn't sure, so I just needed clarification.
Statement Retracted! ^_^

I've never been on neo-geo.com forums myself, but if there's a lot of "LOL interweb drama" going on, I'm kind of glad I don't. I can't help but jump in sometimes. ^_^;;

Sadly this may be old board. Also, Twitch's thinly veiled attack on click-stick's forum elitism. Too much good stuff.
I don't know how exactly that went down, since I left for a period of time when Gamespy's boards started going up and down like a pony in a carousel. Can anyone elaborate on this?

Twitch's "Clique-Stick" Thread.
http://shmups.system11.org/viewtopic.ph ... lick+stick
(Sorry Twitch, its the topic of discussion atm -_-;; )

The 'forum vs forum' thing was a little uncomfortable to be in the middle of back then, especially seeing lots of good people split off like that. But what can you do? Internet Drama at its finest.

Twitch's "Clique-Stick" Thread.
Again, I ask "why" at slamming entire communities. If you don't like 'em, don't go there. Just seems silly to me.

If I remember right, it originally came down to Kaneda having a massive hard-on for Dai-ou-jou and being upset that more people didn't play it religiously like him. He basically said that anyone that doesn't play shooters purely for score is a worthless scrub.

I have only just been able to get hold of this game after years of wanting it.
Personally im disappointed, It looks amazing but just does not seem like any fun to play. Im not the biggest Ikaruga fan either. Im not saying its a bad game because it obviously not. It just seems overly complex and slow compared to my fave shooters like Mushi and Soukyugurentai.

It has had so much hype and publicity over the years perhaps it just couldn't live up to what its name has become.

Anyone else disillusioned with RSG?

Yeah, I suppose I understand why Laurie got defensive, since people were hating on that thread. That doesn't quite account for the bizarre explosion directed toward Ceph toward the end there. That took away my earlier sympathetic feelings.

Wow, I see all the fuss about click-stick in that thread and ppl going on about it like it was some kind of institution. Now it's apparently gone as if it had never been . . Does anyone know what happened to it?

You're not kidding!
I enjoyed trying to learn how the Mush banking could be reproduced on the cab in my local arcade, by hooking up an autofire circuit.
But the perhaps over-zealous Cave love on Click-Stick was a bit scary  .

Especially because the core aspect of Cave worshipping was graphics. Now, Xexex (1991) can mop the floor with most of Cave games worshipped on that forum...and Recap as an habitual is a big plus!

Never read that one. Everytime I look at it I think if Oprah Winfrey of Dr. Phil and just read something else instead.

Funny funny. And just to make sure, as I am not a visitor to TNL, 'Recap' is the good man Stuart Campbell right?

I don´t have that much background on this matter, but while Recap and Stuart Campbell share the same prickish attitude (though I still like Campbells reviews, even if he is an asshole - mainly because I don´t give a shit about the games he reviews and I like his sarcastic tone in reviews about Gran Tourismo, for instance), they are not the same person. Recap writes for Insert Credit, while Campbell wrote for a huge number of magazines since decades.

(BONUS INFO: Insert Credit is retarded because a certain Brandon reviewed Ketsui as being "too easy" and "aimed at novice players while representing a hardcore genre" back then after playing it for maybe 3 credits. This should tell you something about the journalistic skills those people have.)

Hmm. I thought he was either Stu or that guy from 1up that said Border Down was terrible because it didn't give the player unlimited credits. Gues there is a third.
