Is Takumi still around & are they doing another shmup?

Post by PC Engine Fan X! »

Is Takumi Co. Ltd. still around and are they planning to do another shmup project that we should look forward to in nearby future?

And what new Japanese arcade-based shmup titles are in works to be released for the 2007 year?

They're still around. Nobody knows what they're up to.

Raiden IV (possibly still in 06)

Nothing else that has been confirmed yet. I'm sure Cave will do something. G.Rev probably will as well.

Now they're all working in different offices. :(

That guy with the camo pants did them in. He's a rebel.

Yeah, isn't that a bit casual for a Japanese workplace?

Camo pants are a surefire sign of one of three things.

1. He's a rebel
2. He's a degenerate
3. He's both.

I should know. I wear camo pants a lot. I have been called both.

None, just a hunch. I'm sure if people were obsessive about Takumi as some are about Cave we'd have detailed info on every employee by now. Instead we're stuck with hoping that the gap between Night Raid and Giga Wing Generations can be expected again (3 years?).

Night Raid was in 2001, Giga Wing Generations hit in 2004- so that'd be right. Well, here comes 2007. :D If they don't delurk before too much longer, something isn't right.

Is Raiden IV on Type X or Type X+? BTW, I'm thinking a PC port will probably hit by the end of 2007.
Kinect? KIN NOT.

I wonder how these companies make money.....Start company, develop for 3 years, release a game there, release a couple of games nobody cares about, develop for three years, release the game a few people care about......

Often these companies get paid to do tasks for other companies, like porting games to systems. These kinds of jobs keep them afloat while they work on their games.

Some recent examples would be Triangle Service, G.Rev, and Skonenc. It'd be nice to see another Takumi game... *-neo

From what i know grev dida a puzzle game or something like that to raise the funds for border down. They also helped treasure on ikaruga and (im not sure) gradius V. I heard Takumi is on the pachinko business (and their games are "well spaced", come on, theres a gap of four years between twin cobra 2 and giga wing).
Cave sells weird stuff for otakus and ports.
Irem has kinda "ressurected" after R-type final, but they develop only rpgs and things like that.

Doki Doki Idol Starseeker

PS.
Do you really need a 552KB signature gif? That's pretty annoying.

He does not, and had he read the forum rules he'd know animated images in signatures are not accepted here. So...yoink!
No matter how good a game is, somebody will always hate it. No matter how bad a game is, somebody will always love it.

They also made a Simple 1500 game, even before Starseeker. Don't remember which one. I thin it was "Za Kaitenzushi".

That was something they did for Taito for contract. That's how they got the money to make Star Seeker, which was how they got the money for Border Down.
