Perhaps. But team work doesn't come from everyone putting aside, or staying silent about, their wants in terms of voting for a game. It comes from everyone putting forth their best efforts and helping out when they can with the game that was chosen (that last part was something I forgot about on the first couple games). I'd personally never expect anyone on the team I'm on to do anything with their votes other than choose the available game they'd most like to play, or choose the one they feel they could do the best at. Asking them to put aside their personal choices or tastes, and pick a game they don't like because others in their group do, isn't exactly a good way to run a team in my view. It makes people feel like their opinions aren't valid, and doesn't inspire much in the way of personal initiative to participate.Rob wrote:Picking a game that most people on a team would like to play is beneficial, since it's a team competition.
I'd rather pick the game I want and have it loose, than pick a game I hate and help it win.

This is why everyone should give their input. Somehow we've been able to agree on an acceptable choice the previous 2 and current weeks, with the exception of twe. A second favorite is better than the least. There's also the option to wait and see how things narrow down.The Coop wrote:It makes people feel like their opinions aren't valid, and doesn't inspire much in the way of personal initiative to participate.

I vote ESPRADE.
I can't be arsed rotating a monitor to play Progear (although it is my favorite of these games) and it seems esprade is the most likely vert to win (sadly).
Where are all the modern Cave games??? DOJ, Galuda, Mushi etc. I don't understand the idea of leaving out games because its not in mame. Surely if we vote for the game we want, on the basis that people won't vote what they can't play then we end up with the fairest reflection of what people want and a reflection of what the majority vote is able to play.

Whoops. Those'd be the unofficial results. Highly unofficial, re: ESP Ra.De.ill6 wrote:and it seems esprade is the most likely vert to win (sadly).
A game could win with a quarter of the participants votes, while there is no guarantee that the other 75% have access to it. I for one don't own any Cave games.Surely if we vote for the game we want, on the basis that people won't vote what they can't play then we end up with the fairest reflection of what people want and a reflection of what the majority vote is able to play.
Yes.Next year I ought to dress up like Chairman Kaga and overexuberantly reveal each week's game.

Autumn is a time of flux: It is the yin to spring's yang, nature's final dynamic hurrah before the subdued tranquility of winter.Next year I ought to dress up like Chairman Kaga and overexuberantly reveal each week's game. Wonder where we'd manage to get ahold of the accompanying orchestra, though...
If memory serves, Guwange is a game replete with autumnal imagery: Falling blossoms and leaves juxtapose images of violence and bloodshed, more anthropomorphic metaphors for the tides of life at their ebbing. What game better exemplifies the inevitable conclusion of the promise of spring? Which team will reign supreme?
The heat will be on!

Christ, I get back in from a shit day at work (thanks a lot sven666 for putting a downer on my day) and this topic has ballooned. Someone mind summarising it or translating it from moonspeak to English for my alcohol-muddled grey matter? I've ran the past two pages through Babelfish's various language options and all I got was:
* Donpachi
* Esprade
* Dangun Feveron
* Guwange
* Progear no Arashi
Look familiar?
You know that muscle inside your skull, commonly referred to as the brain? At least try and use it.
As for holding back our votes for this particular week (and most other weeks), that was my request put forward to the team this week, as I wanted to discuss our choice based on our individual competence and confidence with the games. We are not going to vote based on personal favourites (if we did, we'd have 2x Progear, 2x Guwange, 2x Feveron) but rather what we as a team will fare best at, and that has been the case the past five voting weeks. Surely it doesn't take a fricking idiot to see that a good team voting strategy based on collective competence is better than blindly voting in whatever you prefer to play?
And for those girls complaining about me trying to push Guwange, so what? Why should that have any bearing on your vote? If you were influenced by my chattering about the game this past week and then had the gall to complain about it, then that only goes to show how gullible and easily led you are.
--> tl/dr - the above in short <--
Stop whining. Voting tactics are part and parcel of any poll. I suspect that people are bitching because we're one of the few teams that have used voting strategy to our advantage. namakoteam have proven that we can play well regardless of what gets voted in, and we will do it again this week.
Before I forget, for DJI, a relevant image macro:

I'm off to enjoy some Baileys Irish Cream on ice and watch a good DVD. See you all in Cave Week.
PS: Thanks to Edge and DJI for running what has been a fun and drama-filled 12 weeks of competition.
Seriously fellas, it doesn't take an idiot to know how to predict the shortlist for developer-centric game weeks (like Cave, Raizing, Psikyo, Taito etc) at least. Given that we've been running MAME-centric, you can easily break down say Cave's shortlist to MAME emulated games, and rule out the very popular stuff to give other games a chance to run. Doing that, we get something like this:moan moan bitch
moan moan whine
moan moan whinge
moan moan girly strop
moan moan hissy fit
moan moan tantrum
* Donpachi
* Esprade
* Dangun Feveron
* Guwange
* Progear no Arashi

Neck and neck for second with Progear winning by 4 votes. With Namakoteam still having not voted, it could very well be (almost) anybody's game.Rob wrote:People interested in an (unofficial unofficial) tally:
Progear: 16
Guwange: 12
DonPachi: 11
Dangun Feveron: 4
ESP Ra.De.: 4
I didn't count professor ganson's post on page 1 or 2, where it sounded like he was deciding between Guwange and DonPachi.
P.S. I felt Rob's report needed a little commentary.

It's more about competitive spirit (or lack thereof) than idiocy. I'd rather play something I actually like. I'm sure that makes me a great team member.Icarus wrote:Surely it doesn't take a fricking idiot to see that a good team voting strategy based on collective competence is better than blindly voting in whatever you prefer to play?

Then I feel sorry for you when the vote goes against what you want to play, because... you know... there is no "I" in "TEAM". Be selfless, not selfish.Davey wrote:It's more about competitive spirit (or lack thereof) than idiocy. I'd rather play something I actually like. I'm sure that makes me a great team member.

Yep, you're welcome to join. As we now have a massive 4 members interested in doing this then it must be done. I suppose what i'll do is open a thread in scores exactly a week after this contest ends and leave it open for about 2 weeks, same rules as this contest but for 2 or 3 games simultaneously. DF will definitely be in it as i'm keen to compete at that and the game just doesn't get enough love around here, also Guwange or Progear, whichever of the two loses this week's poll.Pirate1019 wrote:I would, if it's open to people not in STGT.mulletgeezer wrote: At the end of this contest would anyone be interested in a showdown on whichever of these games don't get chosen for Cave Week?
