Some games don't reset your score when you continue either, but if you never continue it's a non-factor. In the same manner, if you stick with the manual bomb the autobomb's not a problem either. Granted, I'd have preferred separate tables too, but I'd consider that sort of thing a minor flaw, rather than a game-breaking one.
In short, I ask, if BB had neglected to include the autobomb option but left everything else exactly as it is, would you rate it higher than you do now, in essence only because it takes the "temptation" of the offending feature away from you?

That would be like R-Type Delta having a broken and unbalanced ship removed before release (let's pretend it had), thus yes, I would. However, if it kept the autobomb option to appease the "for survival" players but added very lucrative score-related rewards available or fully exploitable only to those who used Manual, that would be even better.

I've never quite been able to wrap my head around that sort of viewpoint...I guess I just tend to figure that when something in a game is optional in any form, there's a reason for it. I'm not saying that your viewpoint isn't valid or anything, it's just not one I've ever grappled with myself. Different strokes and all that.
Just for the heck of it, one more question, if you're not sick of me by now...same idea as the last one, but would your opinion of the game change if the autobomb feature was not available by default, but was instead a hidden feature or unlockable, something like that, so it would at least be somewhat "out of the loop?" Or if, as you mentioned earlier, the in-game high score tables were split?
It would indicate that the game regards it as something that alters the gameplay significantly, thus it would be better.

Sorry for the revive. I have been playing this game recently and enjoying it very much. But a quick question.
What are the default options in this game? It was not set to defaults when I got my hands on it. It is all in Japanese so I don't know what is heads or tails.
