How THE OFFICIAL POLL works:
As Rob wrote:DJI makes this thread, people post their vote in this thread, DJI tallies the votes.
How to vote in THE OFFICIAL POLL:
As Rob would have wrote:1. post vote in thread
2. post before Sunday 23:59 (11:59pm) GMT (switch board clock in profile)
Follow only these directions exactly and you will have voted correctly. No need to pay attention to anything else.
If you feel like learning more about the unneeded unused unofficial poll or other voting safeguards in-place, the details are in the fine print at the bottom of this post.

If you don't feel like switching your board clock, use this GMT timepiece:
http://wwp.greenwichmeantime.com/
I will be using this clock to determine when it becomes GMT Monday morning to end the poll.

Your selections for Cave Week are the following:

DonPachi

Image
Three Ships. Bombs. Holding the fire button creates a never-ending stream of firepower, but slows down your ship a bit. Chaining for score and 13 hidden bee medals to collect each stage. A hidden bee medal thing can only be unearthed by the head of your laser stream weapon. 5 stages, a loop 2, and a final final final boss after loop 2.

Dangun Feveron

Image
Choose a fire spread (3). Choose a special weapon (3). Choose a ship speed (4). Choose to hold your fire button to fire the (usually) weaker special weapon. Choose a “full auto” option. Choose to rescue prisoner spheres from destroyed enemies for raising the “scoring number” (a fixed value from destroying regular enemies). Choose killing enemies faster to release more blue spheres. Choose no-missing blue spheres to continually increase the “scoring number” by 1. Choose to let a sphere bounce from the bottom and collect before it disappears at the top of the screen. Choose to call it a “bouncing medaling system” instead of a falling medaling system. Choose “”popular”” 70’s disco music. Choose a hidden character. Choose dissecting a boss piece-by-piece. Choose to call the game Fever SOS. Choose to use bombs and freeze the spheres before they leave the screen. Choose rotting away at the end of your spare lives, embarrassed and knowing you couldn’t complete a mere 5 stages.

ESP Ra.De.

Image
Ah the scoring…not quite physics calculations, but not quite sane either. Shoot a target with your “piercing gun” (B) first, then finish it off with your regular gun (A). Hitting stuff with the “piercing gun” releases bubble ring things, killing with the main gun will transfer remaining rings into your multiplier..which seems to equal to remaining bubbles +1. The piercing gun doesn’t generate an infinite number of rings. Your limit is determined by this ‘bubble meter’ on the bottom left. This multiplier doesn’t really accumulate, but resets after a time-out. When you insert the coin, Hold B before pressing Start. It’s for a good cause
3 characters, 3-4 stages, counters of scoring items resetting by each extra hundred, and bomb energy that you’ll be able to replenish only after maxing out that item scoring counter. You can charge the bomb also to turn bullets into items upon release.

Guwange

Image
3 characters, charging your weapon releases a controllable spirit attack thinger that can slow down/block shots and switch to gold coins ‘n such. The coin counter scoring will revolve around how long you can kill shit with single spirit attacks. The bomb button can be held to change direction the “energy discs” go. Secret pots for coins and other obtuse objectives to be aware of. Ya got this skull counter thing too. Hitting multiple targets of the same type within a time range rises that stuff. Max it out for…wait-for-it….coins.

Progear

Image
2 planes, but 3 supporting assistant choices. 5 stages, but long. Shooting button shoots, generates rings, and auto-collects stones (“fighting”), but holding it down does some lock-ons with your assistants, generates stones, and collects rings (“gunner”). I guess you’re supposed to collect stones and rings n’ trinket shit, but rings build this one other mechanic with a ring counter/level. It seems when the ring counter is down the rings score you more, but when the ring counter is up the stones score you more and knock down the counter also…along with the bombing…and with the dying. Directly proportional to your ring level, ring scoring increases as a straight-line increment, but stone scoring is more of an exponential increment. All the ring ‘n stone trinket stuffs appear from bullets fired near an enemy just-destroyed, but-…but nothin’…strategy in activating collectables is to memorize patterns to when enemies will fire the most bullets.
A summary? Go for collecting rings until your rings start looking green (or max white diamond), then switch to collecting stones till they don’t look green anymore.
Technically, stone collecting will be worth more than rings at ring level 6, when you see the biggest (of 3 same-colored sizes) of the red ruby trinkets.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

As long as these instructions below do not confuse you with the instructions left for you to follow above, here are all the fine print additional voting rules in place to serve more as "future week-long controversy insurance" or more accurately, "In-Case Shit"

-A vote is a singular item from which you may cast once and only once via posting your choice in this thread. If you fail to cast your vote properly by breaking the rules below, it becomes a disqualified vote, forbidding you to cast again for this week. Therefore you may not disqualify your vote in the name of creating a second fresh vote.
-Only people assigned to a team on the first page of STGT 2k6 will have their votes counted.
-Even if you didn't play in a previous week, if your name is assigned to a team, you can still vote.
-If you post your vote and then edit your post, your vote is disqualified.
-If you post ANYTHING in this thread (vote or no vote) and edit that post; if you posted a vote in a later post it will still be disqualified. (an exception will be made if the person who voted claims in his voting post that he did not in-fact post his vote in his earlier edited post. Another forum member must defend this claim, which will be accepted as proof [if it passes my judgement])
-If you post your vote and then post another vote again later on, I will only use your first vote.
-If you post your vote, post another vote later, then edit or remove your first vote post and I/we catch it, your vote is disqualified and other people should point and laugh at you.
-If you post your vote, but forget to specify any required additional detail where needed (course selections, etc), make another post with the rest of your information from which you still needed to vote on. Just don't edit either post or you'll break the rules above.
-..so basically, be careful and certain when posting here 8)

-To stop any chances of confusion for team voting, I ask that only Individual posted votes will be counted. Nobody can 'delegate' their vote to another team member or post their vote in the name of another team member. Obviously you may pm within your team as much as you want so you all can agree which choice to go for, but all 5-7 votes from a team will not count unless I see an individual post from every team member.

THE UNOFFICIAL VOTE with the typical polling above is just for fun. I threw it there to "keep things exciting" and to keep people in-the-know what game they are going to have to acquire and get running ahead of time. The unofficial vote up-top will have no bearing on which game wins the vote.

I will advise during the poll on where the unofficial poll is terribly inaccurate, however, official results will never be released until the end of the vote.

*MODIFIED* The Tiebreaker Clause:
The poll is scheduled to end at 23:59pm Sunday GMT. It officially ends when I or Edge post saying the poll is over. In the event at the time of the deadline that I detect a tie between the two leading candidates OR a candidate is leading by a single vote, I will extend the voting period by two hours to leave enough time for people who have not voted yet to cast and widen the gap between the two leading game picks. Note that this is not a runoff between the two top choices. If, in-fact other game picks have close numbers with the top two choices, as long as the lesser game picks can overtake the top game choice by two votes in two hours, they too have the same chance of winning the entire poll.
After this second voting deadline has been reached, if there is still a tie or a single vote difference between the two leading game picks at the time, another two-hour extension on the voting deadline will occur.
However,
1. This time, members in teams with players that still haven't voted may cast the vote(s) on behalf of the players who didn't vote. Players who utilize this must specify the absent player he is casting the vote for in the same post as what he decided his additional vote will be.
2. This time period WILL become a run-off between ONLY the top two choices upon initiation of the second two-hour extension.
After the third and final voting deadline has been met, if there is still a voting lead of a single vote, the chosen game still wins. If there is still a tie, Edge gets to pick the winner between the two games in question.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

So DEL, what's the good word? They gonna eat me alive? I left ya a little somethin' on the PM.

Oh, pretty interesting. You opened the poll so early. This poll will probably the most dramatic. Considering it will last for so long, it's the last week and the game choice will be pretty important for the teams as they may have several experienced players on some of these games. Looking forward to the results, as I really do not know which game will make it. :)

And I have again linked one snapshot 2 times instead of linking the correct one. :P

I've made a pretty nice one for Ra.De., so I simply post it here:

Good point BM, whassisdoinginOFFTOPIC?
 I lived up to my name (finally).

I checked and double checked and triple checked the post for the stupid errors like the subject line two-times ago and thought I had it, then I check the main chat thread and nothing's there! I forgot to clipboard everything so I'm just all "ohshitohshitohshitohshit!!!" I found the 1 of 27 window I set the post in and backtrack to find everything I wrote was all there. So double check again and hit submit. I get the redirect to off topic and there...fucking two vote threads. Killed one and chopped the other....god that sucked

Edge, man. Methinks we got the "tourney fatigue."
I gotta put that photoshop on ice. The purple is gonna kill me if the fanboys don't first.

Ahaha, no prob. Its been a funny tourney, most enjoyable. Filled with drama, LOLZ, Serious Business (TM), and some great new records. Thanks for running the show (as if I haven't said that enough times already).

namakoteam will be watching the poll very carefully. I'm personally interested in seeing just what will get voted in.

Vote for it then, please. :)

Honestly, not to sound like a fanboy dick (I guess I have to every now and again) why there are any games up there that Ikeda had nothing to do with is beyond me. How can you have a 6 week shooting game tournament and not play a game buy the guy that basically invented the Danmaku and Micro hit box?

Donpachi was included in the last tournament as well, so I think it could be scratched. Cheers to them for not putting Dodonpachi in though.

I agree - Donpachi should not have been let in the tournament. And also because it is so god damned boring. What an aweful game. BORING! (all except the last stage)

yep, DP is a cave game in name only. Hopefully one day shmupping historians will reclassify this as a late Toaplan game, with shit music.

Please let's not vote for DP, it lacks the proper Cave flavour.

I vote for Dangun Feveron. I really hope it will make it.

And Gion, the point that not everybody has Mushi and Galuda because they're only on arcade/PS2 hardwares. The game of choice HAS to run on MAME at least so everybody can play.

a couple of the participants cant play MAME either, mame-only was never a rule anyways, just a lazy convenience :x .

both galuda and DOJ are very widespread games and would be a perfectly fine choice in the poll.

So I should vote in such a way that I'm not able to play? I have to admit: the other four games look really interesting. Why won't Cave release them on console already!

Lame. You're telling me that more people on this forum are set up with Mame + a controller for PC than with a PS2 + Cave games? I seriously doubt it.

Lame. You're telling me that more people on this forum are set up with Mame + a controller for PC than with a PS2 + Cave games? I seriously doubt it.
If people are using this forum they have access to a computer and most of them will have one powerful enough for mame. the keyboard can be used as an input device or a joystick/pad/console USB adaptor can be bought very cheaply, and although we don't officially approve of romz they are totally free. Surely most people who don't do mame are avoiding it by choice?

Is DP the only game you're able to play? That's really bad, i honestly feel sorry for you. Voting for one of the other games would be a noble sacrifice.
