As it says, more info is needed to say much of consequence about this, but I figured I ought to mention it, seeing as a bunch of shmups made it onto the first 2 volumes. On that note, did Taito ever make any console-only shmups? It's being discussed on some Japanese blogs - some game shops have unveiled another Taito production before its official announcement. If they're to be believed, the game in question is the sequel to the two Taito Memories games, which would also consist of two separate volumes, the first of them being released in January. Even more surprisingly, the compilation would only include home titles, such as the Estpolis Denki ['Lufia'] RPG series. Stay tuned.

Re: New Taito Memories?
Taito did make Darius Twin and Darius Force as SNES exclusives. PCE Super CD Super Darius II had exclusive bosses not found in the arcade game.
Kinect? KIN NOT.

I don't mind these collections but i would like companies to do things like a super mega 30 Great NES games collection. It was semi happy when nintendo did theyr old game collection for GBA but they could have done something sensable like PUTTING MORE THAN ONE GAME ON EACH CARTRAGE. I want some huge console collections from yesteryear.
Some of the best shmups don't actually end in a vowel.
No, this game is not Space Invaders.

Hrm, can't think of many console exclusive games from Taito to get excited about. I like a lot of their stuff, but it's mostly old arcade coin-op games. Then again, Ninja Warriors again, and the two Pocky & Rocky titles from the SNES would be great. Funny thing is all three were developed by Natsume instead.

Yeah, me neither. Arcade or ports is the way to go when it comes to Taito. I guess Maou Renjishi (also called Mystical Fighter) is a pretty interesting title, but not a very good one.Xexyz wrote:Hrm, can't think of many console exclusive games from Taito to get excited about.
I wish they would spend their time on a proper Darius port instead.

Actually, now that I think of it, they had some solid NES only titles. Wrath of the Black Manta, Kick Master, Power Blade, Power Blade 2, Panic Restaurant, and Little Samson were pretty fun. The Flinstones games and Felix the Cat were good too, but they would never make it due to licensing issues. I can't think of any NES exclusive Taito shmups.

Well, there's still a vol. 2 coming, so one can hope, right?
I most definitely hate your favorite shooter.

According to the article below, it seems the new Taito Memories will support tate mode for applicable games as well.

Uh...no. There was talk sometime ago about a US release of the second Taito 'legends' set (or whatever they calle it), but it seems clear that there's no US release planned. I think I'm gonna have to import the japanese taito disc just to get the arcade port of G-Darius.

Maou Renjishi is one of my favorite Genesis beat-em-ups, right behind Streets of Rage 2. The throw move in it where you jump up and then slam the enemy into the ground with a gong sound is awesome.zinger wrote:Yeah, me neither. Arcade or ports is the way to go when it comes to Taito. I'm hoping the Guncon is supported in Operation Thunderbolt in this new compilation. Empire screwed up by leaving the gun support out of TL2's version.
A 720p HD widescreen mode for Darius II would be nice.

So, the first Taito Legends was an Empire western-made compilation, while Taito Japan handled Legends 2 themselves (hence the presence of G-Darius, the dvd-rom media, the digital stick support, the configurable buttons).
Now, if Taito is going to release Memories 2 in Japan, we can hope those games are handled by the Japanese staff (that would be the case, if they even feature the tate option this time)...
It's a bit complicated, but this basically means that with a bit of luck, Europe could get a Legends 3 - with Rayforce this time. Of course, to gather enough games for a Legends 3, we must wait to see what games will be present in Memories2 Vol.2 (out in march), since most of the games in Memories2 Vol.1 we got already in Legends 1...
...It's confused enough to cause an headache.

These taito compilations are sure confusing. So Taito Legends was released in the US and Europe and contained the same content for all platforms. Taito Legends 2 was only released in Europe and both PS2 and XBOX platforms got a few exclusive titles. Taito Legends Powered Up is for the PSP and contains exclusive enhanced versions of a couple games. I never played Taito Memories Vol1 and Vol2 which was only released in japan. I have no idea what games are on these colletions. Looking at the upcoming Taito Memories 2 Vol1, most of the games were released on Taito Legends. I didnt realize Taito had so many arcade games to make 4 volumes. Confusing if you ask me.

They haven't bothered releasing the second one in the US, and they're already planning two more? What the hell? I would snatch up the second one the second it arrived in a US store, and I'm not the only one. Apparently they don't care, even though it would take very little tweaking after releasing Japanese and European versions.

The item pages on Play-Asia have the individual games listed (here and here if you're interested). Odd that the "Best" version of the first volume is a few bucks more than the second, since IIRC the original versions were the same price...sideshow wrote:I never played Taito Memories Vol1 and Vol2 which was only released in japan. Also, in case anyone hasn't noticed, pre-orders for Memories 2 Volume 1 are up here at P-A and here at YesAsia.

Pretty much all of these games on Taito Memories Vol1 and 2 are on the Taito Legends 1 and 2. Taito Legends 2 for the PS2 has 4 exclusive games including G Darius and Raystorm. Taito Legends for the XBOX also has 4 exclusive games including Cadash and Rayforce. Its worth buying both the PS2 and XBOX versions just for those extra games. It is weird that Taito Legends 2 isnt going to be released in the US. It has to be one of the best compilations ever.
