Animusic

Post by Bosuonparedo »

Seriously one of the most awesomest things ever.

I have both the DVD and soundtrack of this and I must say, it's amazing stuff! This guy writes MIDI-format music and then runs it through proprietary software that analyzes it both forwards and backwards to create animations for it. The end result is a "video" of nifty-looking CGI instruments playing themselves. There are seven segments, and the soundtrack includes three extra unreleased songs as well. Oh, and there's a sequel in the works, which I am greatly looking forward to.

Might be worth a buy if you have an extra $20 to blow.

I gave a copy of this to the family for Christmas last year.

A full-length video of "Pipe Dream" can be found in the SIGGRAPH 2001 archive: http://www.archive.org/movies/details-d ... pipe_dream

Can't say I care for all of the songs on the DVD though. I was majorly disappointed with the song written for "Drum Machine", and I get tired of warbly flutes like in "Aqua Harp". The other songs are pretty good, though I didn't buy the DVD specifically for the music. :)
