Nice to know. Be sure to inform us on your future purchases as well, thanks!

I was also iffy on getting the MegaCD port... never did though cause I've heard so many mixed review on it.

I guess i'm gonna pass on it.

That's debatable. While I do think that the PCE version is better, the different is not huge.

The graphic artists did a really good job in recreating the look of the original despite having less colours to work with. Some bits even look better (more parallax layers, more line scrolling), in one or two spots special effects are missing, though. The remixed music of the MCD version is a bit too synth-heavy for my taste, but I don't think that makes it worse than the PCE original. Apart from some minor enemies missing in a few places, the gameplay is intact. The biggest difference is that the player is stunned for a second after getting hit.

It's a quality game, no matter which version you play.

I think the PCE version wins. Read the following:

The music is brilliant! how can you beat the air guitar in the intro background! Hell of a bargain price you got there, paid £25 for my pal copy a few years back.

I actually prefer the MegaCD music for Lords. Although the guitar is still there, it's less irritatingly screech-y than on PCE, and the MegaCD chords are more pronounced and resonant. It adds a "fantasy" flavor to the rock, as opposed to just being pure rock. One of my friends who listened to the MegaCD soundtrack said:

"If the gods could rock, this would be their rock."

Otherwise, I prefer the PCE version.

While you are correct that the PCE version is superior, I don't think anyone can argue with the deal you got! I have both versions of Lords, and I don't think the Mega CD version is that bad. The music was a bit "over the top", but then again it was meant to be--even for the early to mid 90s.

Congrats! :D

i've read that the US LoT PCE has missing voices... anyways, is it just me or is the wind element the preffered choice? :P

I hated the Mega CD port with a passion. The port is way too easy, the game doesn't look too good, and the music was recreated to crappyness.

I just couldnt believe the game got ported to the Mega CD. It just seems it should of always stayed a PCE only game. The music in the PCE engine version is much more RAW sounding than the Mega. The sound effects are very annoying to me in the Mega CD version also.

I thought it was supposed to be a bit more difficult than the original (can't be THAT much though, since I managed to finish it).

I never really noticed a difference. I finished both versions the first time I played them.

The difficulty settings on the Mega CD version ar all one notch lower than the same difficulty settings on the PCE-SCD (example, Normal on Mega CD is about as difficult as Easy [if there was an Easy setting] on the PCE-SCD, and so on).
