I wish I was part of the namco team, I bet I'd get all kinds of cool Pac-Man/Driller stuff then..

As stated before, I bring the average quality of namakoteam down a couple of notches (at least)

I really need to start bad-mouthing Air Gallet, just to put up a bit of resistance to Rob's Vasara-smearing campaign. :P

to even things up i'd like to slander Vasara:

it's no fun at all when played for score as it encourages the player to use just the charge shot, which gets dull after about 3 games. this is supposed to be a shooting contest.

i'm a bit surprised nobody mentioned this before the shortlist actually (i didn't know about it or i would have mentioned it myself) - I understand that some people might consider this a hidden gem but it really isn't a good choice for a full week of competitive play, in fact i'd say it's the worst of the 5 in this respect.

Well, I'm not really feeling any of these games. I was originally going to vote for Air Gallet but the more I play it the more wonky and unfair it seems. I guess I'm gonna throw a pity vote for Vasara, because it's probably my favourite of the five.

Anyway, I just want to inform my team that there's probably no way in hell I can get a score in this week thanks to an unbelievably hectic next few weeks of school. I don't like it, but there's nothing I can do about it - sorry guys.

I believe I myself mentioned the emphasis on the weapon attacks when I first nominated the game some time back (though I'm somewhat under the impression that the game's somewhat infamous around here for that already)...in any event, I would argue that this doesn't make it much different from Dragon Blaze (except that here you can use the melee attack for both offense and defense), and few complained about said emphasis for that game. As for "this is supposed to be about shooting," except when it comes to this game (or so it sometimes seems) I hear a lot of complaining about how there's so little variety in shmups these days and no one tries anything different, how we're supposedly willing to put up with a few (sometimes glaring) flaws just to see some creativity: Vasara comes along and tries a different approach, and it gets blasted for it. If others don't like the game as much as I do I'm not offended, but I still say it deserves much more credit than it gets for breaking the mold at least a little bit.

Though if you really want a shooter that features almost nothing that hasn't been done heaven knows how many times before, by all means play Air Gallet.

This more or less sums up my feelings on it...the graphics are quite nice, but the gameplay overall just feels antiquated to me.

Looks like someone hit a nerve.
In any rate, BM, we're playing Air Gallet anyway. The vote seems to be heading in that direction.

Jesus guys just because Air Gallet throws a Toaplan stage 4 boss at you on the second level as well as having a humongous toaplan hitbox doesn't mean it's a terrible game

awww, c'mooonn. It's obvious it's not literally your site. I'm referring to it as it is your basis for comparison by which you introduced it to me. Since I learned of the site from you, the RJJ guy doesn't chill on here (this forum) from what I've seen, and nobody else I've seen has referred to it yet, I can loosely call it as "yer site"

But fine; a confusion of style of language I'll avoid. My bad.

Repace "yer" with "the" and all is taken care of.

I already ran out of bad typo puns, so any chance namakoteam feels like answering why they still don't think they're that good? Please? Pretty Please? With♪ a♪ cherry♪ on♪ top♪? :D

They do visit this forum, under different usernames:

Cowboy-NOA - Plasmo

Team Cowboy is also taking part in this tournament.

I, like my team, have my weaknesses, therefore my comment still stands.
You'd be right to worry if ARC, ARM, Mills and KAC signed up for namakoteam for the next tournament, though. ^_-

EDIT: Fixing grammar.

Even though I too voted for Va-sorry I'd like to make a request on the potential winners behalf.

Be it Air Gallet that wins, can we have auto-fire...

Once again I haven't played any of them. So It looks like a choice between Vasara and Air Gallet. I'm a bit fed up of Dragons for the time being, I don't fancy killing an endless battleship (or ships) and Xexex look too much like R-Type. Vasara look good but sounds complicated to learn and I only have a week to play so:

I vote for Air Gallet

Cheers

Air Pellet?
Air Guitar?
Air Gullet?
Air Gun?
Air Canister?
'air of the Dog?
Air Wave?
Air Gally - Battle Angel Alita?
Air Pistol? (Yeah yeah, did that one already.)
Air Gallery?
Air Gallant? (The Mitsubishi kind.)

...

Voting for Air Gallet.
Even though I would have preferred Cyvern or Xexex.

I'm all for originality and i'm not seriously bashing the game but for those of us who wish to compete for score i don't see how it would be any fun. Air Gallet is less original but it's quite playable and has the right kind of attributes for a contest, being easy to pick up quickly, quite challenging and having a simple but worthwhile scoring system. There is a similarity between Vasara and Dragon Blaze but DB's melee attack involves risk; Vasara's charge is really safe if you do it right, to me it's more like the Takumi bullet reflect shield than the Dragon Shot but requires less skill than either.

Shame that Omega Fighter isn't getting any votes. Not that I've played it (or any of these), but it sounds pretty cool.

TRIVIA OF THE DAY: "Vasara" is Finnish for "Hammer". The more you know...

And I vote for Air Gallet.
