DDP DOJ locking up

Post by UnscathedFlyingObject »

Is the game supposed to lock up on modded systems? It locked up now and then yesterday, but it locks up everytime now on the second stage boss. Maybe the game hates me for dying so much. Any thoughts?

No problems here playing on a modded system. Not sure which chip is inside mine, Matt put it in long ago.
Fascination...

Um, you realize to play the NTSC-J disc on a US PS2 it needs to be modded right?

No problems on my HDL softmodded PS2. BTW: I also have the PCB, so maybe karma is on my side?

Crap. I hope my PS2 isn't dying. It's been acting weird ever since my cousin modded it. Sometimes when loading, it makes a noise similar to coffee beans getting grounded.

Take heart in the fact that your PS2 isn't suffering, in all likelihood. It probably just feels a little more tired, a little sleepier of late. That's why it can't do all the things it used to be able to do. It isn't too old to enjoy your love and attention, though... in fact, these might help your PS2 a great deal during this time of transition.

Now, while I can't presume to know what, if anything, awaits us when we pass on, let me tell you this: Any heaven that won't admit your beloved game consoles when they die is a heaven you wouldn't want to go to, anyway.

...and remember: While your PS2 may die, the memories of your time together will be with you always.

I think I'll just blame Sony.

This is weird. My game still freezes, but I can get past level 2 most of the time now. The "Grinding Coffee Noise (tm)" is still there, though, and sometimes I get to the boss and the music starts mid-fight. I must be sucking less 8).

I think I know what the problem is now. My PS2 seems to have problems loading the second boss' music if the game is set up to use the original music. Using the arrange soundtrack seems to solve the problem. I'll have to play some more to see if it loads normally every time.

Is this is disk swap technique?

If you can get the problem down to a music track it might be to do with the disc itself.
This industry has become 2 dimensional as it transcended into a 3D world.

My system is modded and the disk is flawless. The most likely situation is a conflict with my chip.

The "Grinding Coffee Noise (tm)" makes me think that the DVD drive might be going out.

That's what I thought, but I tested my system with different games and they didn't make the "Grinding Coffee Noise (tm)." It's just that spot right before the second boss that was giving me trouble.
