But are you kidding me? Video game mags? I'm grateful that in a way GamePro got me interested in Thunder Force 3 (grafx 5.0 red flaming face !!), but as for critical opinion... Elemental Master and MUSHA are solid games, not much more. imo to reach the upper tier of shumpdom a game must have some degree of challenge, which neither of these games have. The same goes for Elemental Master and MUSHA. These three games were normally given scores of 9 out of 10 by almost every serious gamer mag that looked at them.
You silly goose. As to Thunder Force 2... Yes the overhead levels suck. Even for those of us who mastered them. The ship controls poorly in these levels, the weapon power ups suck balls, and the variety of enemies and the repetitive scenery doesn't make it worthwhile.
LOLThunder Force 2 just was not a very good shooter. Its a port of a computer game for crying out loud.
TF2 criticism is almost always followed by talk of "aimless" overhead stages, as if they were randomly generated and the player spent 20 minutes wandering around and running into walls before giving up. As far as 16-bit shooters go, this is about the fastest action there is. The control is fine.
