Totally shattered that today. This time I'm sure it was Stage 8. Pretty soon I'll pass a million and I can get my gold sticker! ^_^

906,500 - doctorx0079 - 8 - PS2

I don't understand why ppl think Vulgus is better than this game. Exed is superior in every way.

Hopefully I'll be able to join soon, I just got the PSone version (well, it arrived a few weeks ago) but unfortunetly I've been busy with the moving (and the shaking) here, so I haven't even played it yet.

I'm afraid I won't be able to offer much competition to you though, I remember when I played this on the Capcom Classics pack I only got up to Stage 3... (I liked playing Sonson and, yes, Vulgus more  )

Sonson is great but why Vulgus? Because it's easier??

Hi, so sorry for the delay in replying! I've been busy helping my family move and this message sort of slipped from my memory.

I think it was the control of the Exed ship that turned me off a bit. Like when you need to move down (back?) its much slower... inventive but perhaps I was not being open minded when I owned the CCC pack. Also I always thought the name was the cool EXED EYES, and then I found it was just the decent EXED EXES

Still, its a fun little thing, though I liked Vulgus a little more (maybe its just me, but it seems Vulgus relies much more on flowing with the enemy formations then Exed? Maybe thanks to the wrap around scrolling.)

So that was me, now I ask you, why don't you seem to like Vulgus?

I would love to join but I left the Capcom Gen pack at home (at university now.) But I'll dig up my old Stage 1 score so the table isn't so empty!

In Vulgus it never really changes. No secret bonus fruits to find. No bosses or extra tough enemies. I don't feel that the stages have distinct layouts like in Exed Exes or Xevious. Exed Exes has a stage that is mostly the bigger enemies that take a lot of hits, and you try to bag as many as you can for the points, while dodging the small enemies that come in off the sides and shoot at you. Vulgus has none of that. I used to like Vulgus but I just got tired of it. Shoot dodge shoot dodge shoot dodge repeat. Big pauses when you go through space, then you get to another planet and it's the same thing all over again. It's sort of like Phoenix but easier and with better graphics. Phoenix has more variety in the enemy attacks even.

I guess theres a lot of truth to that... I mean the pacing in Vulgus pretty much just repeats (tough planet, go to space with no enemies, repeat repeat.)

What other Capcom shooties do you like? I ask because I really remember enjoying 1943 (once again, when I used to own that CCC pack.)

I'm gonna restrain myself from ranting about how Vulgus is better(Imao). Savage Bee's is awesome too though,I love the creepy music.

Does it have different music than Exed Exes? How did you get to play it?

1943 is alright, but I really like 1942 and Varth. I was playing some Last Duel a while back. I am also a fan of Street Fighter II, Magic Sword, Strider and Ghosts 'n' Goblins, which I am working on a superplay of . .

I've never played Savage Bee's but from what I heard it's the same besides the name(I just said that to sound all fancy,I apologize for any confusion).

Did you not like the music? Sure I wouldn't call it great but I thought it was the games most memorable feature, and an interesting one at that.

I'm gonna boot up CCC some time soon to try Vulgus again(haven't played it and awhile) and I'm gonna try my Hardest to beat your Exed Eye's score. I think it's a shooter I'm actually good at and I like the competition.

This bring's back memory's of me trying to beat Gheg's Vulgus score...good times.

I like the music, it's rather hypnotic. When you get tired of it, try the remixed version (in the options menu).

Whoa whoa... Vulgus had MUSIC?

Damn, it has been a while!

I've found that lame score to help you fill out the table... it'll at least give you a permenent last place for the board.

I thought we were talking about Exed Exes music. It even has better music than Vulgus!

I don't really consider that a 1CC since there are 16 distinct rounds, but I know what you mean.

Excellent score, you get a gold sticker for your Famicom cartridge!

How much did you have to play Exed Exes to get that score? Any pointers for the rest of us?

I have a little and old experience playing shmups, I think that I play this game for one or two days to do it, persisting and playing a "few" hours per day...

I've been playing this a bit lately so i thought i might as well post a crappy score

Mero - 816500 - 7 - PS1

Improvements to follow, hopefully

This shooters head and shoulders above most other stuff from the mid 80's imo, it certainly canes the arse of Vulgus

I fired this up for the first time in ages yesterday and came up with this:

Mero - 966,800 - 8 - PS1

I died on the boss which was annoying, I'd have broken a million if I'd beaten him. I had to stop playing after that because my wrist was starting to ache from hammering the fire button so much
