Who has had shmup-related dreams?
Recently, I dremt Radiant Silvergun was out on GameCube, and I got to rent it. I was so excited because I really wanted this game and there is no way I'm going to get a Japanese Saturn for ~$50 and the game for ~$160.
But alas, it was all a dream. I didn't get RS. RS was not, and will never be, released for GC. I was a bit angry when I woke up.

I posted before [previous forum] that I was inside Gradius V
but it was backwards and the background was in front of the foreground, like one of those diorama things in reverse.
Something like that.
Most of my dreams aren't very fun
in a Ring-esque fashion. Only about 1 in 200+ is remotely pleasant.

I actually had a dream involving some parodius penguin boss and a certain belly dancing girl, there was lots of beer, 8 arms and possibly a barfight....can't remember exactly
(well at least the part about the parodius penguin boss is true...

Someone else once mentioned that they'd dreamed of finding rare shmup titles at random while browsing a store that would normally never have them...I faintly recall something like that from awhile ago. I also think I once dreamt of playing Mushihime (which I've never tried IRL), though obviously whatever I thought I was playing came pretty much entirely from my imagination.

I sometimes have dreams where I'm in Japan, and I go to an arcade, and I usually set out to find the latest game, Raiden III or Mushihime or whatever. And what I do find is a game I've played before, but it's some sort of weird revision/hack that doesn't make any sense. Once it was Shikigami no Shiro II with no bullets. A few nights ago it was something like Psyvariar on wobble mode.

I'm always hunting for some rare and obscure shmups in strange and neat-looking places in my dreams, and they are always for the Dreamcast, altough in a recent dream I found a strange looking caracter based cute-em-up developed by RaZing for the PC
....and, like always, there were a few copys of Ikaruga floating around, altough with 6 different covers and on the PS2 too.
There was also a wierd horazonal one, wery well hidden, based on Evangelion (altough I could'nt buy that one 'caus I did'nt have enough money

Yeah, in the last "dream" topic, I mentioned dreaming of finding random rare JP games like Steam Hearts and Radiant Silvergun at retail price on the bottom shelf in a Radio Shack-like store. The irony is that I already have the games. Guess the years I spent coveting them along with my recent shooter revival cooked my brains...BulletMagnet wrote:Someone else once mentioned that they'd dreamed of finding rare shmup titles at random while browsing a store that would normally never have them...I faintly recall something like that from awhile ago.

How to know when your life generally sucks is basically when you have video game dreams.
While I never had a shmup dream, I did dream once that I bought Dragon Quest 8. My friend spent the night at the time, and heard me say in my sleep, "I can't beat this Slime boss on Dragon Quest 8." I've also recently had a dream that there were multiple endings to each stage in B.O.B.

Think I had one one time.
Was flying an F16 in vertical shmup view in real life graphics I was the pilot and was like dodging shit loads of missiles while chasing a satelite in decaying orbit on a collision course with a city.
turned out I was really drunk and playing deadly skies mission 14 so it sorta came true in a way........

I've had dreams that are just pictures of bullet sprays. generally happens when I'm playing a game that I'm really enjoying and trying to figure out and I force myselve to go to sleep. Psyvariar 2 I saw bullet sprays, Ikaruga I saw enemy patterns, I've also had Bust a Move dreams where I'm popping bubbles.
Feedback will set you free.

Woke up from a dream this morning about Giga Wing. On some mix of the air base level and something else I approached shooting this enemy closely and it popped out 4-5 large medals and then another +40 million (!!!!) medal with like an emerald interior. Ignoring the mathematics of it all, the multiplier jumped to 10 billion. It seemed pretty damn real (I even took a picture of it with a digital camera because I couldn't believe it), so imagine my disappointment when waking up. I've played the game for about a few hours almost every day for a month, so it's invading my dreams.
Similarly I've had dreams of experiencing success in Psikyo loops (like Gunbird 2, in disbelief at how easy it is around 2-4). I find arcade cabs here and there (Dragon Blaze, Burning Force). I've also seen a remade version of Thunder Force III super widescreen a la Darius, and I remember how awesome Hydra/Gorgon was. I want that game.

Last night I had a dream about DoDonPachi, no doubt from reading 8.5's story. But I was playing as Beltiana from Batsugun, and I seemed to stuck on some endless loop of trying to beat the level 2 midboss without dying or using bombs. When I finally did, the rest of level 2 wasn't anything like it should have been. It was more like the city level from Sonic Wings Special, with bigger buildings and DDP tanks.

Now that you mention it; I had a "dreaming binge" last night, and one of the segments involved something like a "Skonec Store" or something like that... It was very brief, and I don't remember much about it, but it really stood out.
And now I check the site, and skonec.com is down. Hmm.
(Somewhat-related; It's so weird how after playing a shmup for an hour or so, you'll see instant bullet patterns streaming across the inside of your eyelids for at least fifteen minutes afterwards.)

Second night of shmup related dreams in a row. Very odd.
This time, I bought a Game Gear off some cute girl, and it came with a shmup. It wasn't one of the Aleste games though. It was a side-scroller. The ship looked like the ship from Gaiares, the first level was in a mine reminiscent of the mine level in Sonic 2, and when I got a shield, I was surrounded in lightning. It was sort of egg shaped, but not perfectly so; lightning at the end of the ship flew off like a comet's tail.
