NEW 2007 SHMUPS. What can we look forwrd to?

Post by Mills »

Apart from RAIDEN4 (which i may see at PREVIEW2007 trade show event 10-11th october), what other 2007 shoot-em-up titles can we expect to see from CAVE, EIGHTING RAIZING, TREASURE, PSYIKO, and any other game makers out there? Will Psyiko bring a follow up horizontal shump to that character based shump TENGAI? Ps, what new 2007 shumps are coming out on the console scene?

There already has been a sequel, oddly for PSP. It's Sengoku Cannon.

Yeah, you'll find that these Guys really know their stuff. I'm sure someone here could give you an exact rundown of all the forthcoming releases.

(which i may see at PREVIEW2007 trade show event 10-11th october),
I may not be able to join you at the Novotel due to work this week :? . I suppose it doesn't go on 'til late :?: Damien called me about it last night, he should be able to join you there.

  • Cave: Mushihimesama Futari, sequel to the popular Mushihimesama
  • Raizing: dead and buried *sniff*, partially absorbed into Cave (Garegga head programmer Shinobu Yagawa works for them, has done Ibara and Pink Sweets ~Ibara Sorekara~ so far)
  • Treasure: kinda quiet, rumored Project RS3 but no official word yet
  • Psikyo: last thing done was Sengoku Cannon on PSP (which is cack, BTW)
  • Takumi: nowhere to be seen
  • Milestone: Karous, vert with gameplay similar to Radirgy
  • Warashi: Trigger Heart Exelica, vert with catch-and-throw chaining mechanics
  • Alfa System: Shikigami no Shiro 3 released a while ago, PC version just out
  • Skonec/Success: working with Alfa System on Shikigami 3 last I heard
Might have missed a few.

The last G.Rev releases were Senko No Ronde Rev. X for X-Box 360 and Senko No Ronde SP for arcade (an updated version of the original).

@mills

Dunno if you know Senko No Ronde. It is G.Rev's hybrid between shmup and fighting game. In very simpilfied terms: Two players can each play a Boss and bombard each other with manic bullet spray.

Wasn't Homura 2 mentioned as a forthcoming release awhile back?

Sadly, Takumi's Website hasn't been updated in forever. Yokushin Giga Wing Generations isn't even listed under available home ports. Although, I did notice something distressing... they were/are in alliance with Aruze... that's never a good thing. :(

There's quite a bit of info on the news thread on the forum, here:

Icycalm has dome a quick impressions writeup from the arcade it was showcased at, with some nice high res videos of the game in action, here:

i think I mentioned this before but there is the capcom classics 2 that has a few shooters in there.
Damn Tim, you know there are quite a few Americans out there who still lives in tents due to this shitty economy, and you're dropping loads on a single game which only last 20 min. Do you think it's fair? How much did you spend this time?

Yes it was mentioned on Skonec's site many months ago, so that does make it a possible candidate for a 2007 release.

It just gets drier and drier in shmups land. We ain't even getting ports of Cave's latests and they pretty much keep the genre alive.

please Game maker Moss, should should make something original. something they can call their own creation instead of making a hash of an already hash game in Raiden3 (bullets tracking with the backdrops when it scrolls or rotates left or right. lame programing). And Viper Phase1, is just another pattern game with detailed cgi.

= A lot crazier, believe me! We watched a video of a girl playing Mushihimesama Futari on test location during the Milan Meet. It looks hard. But it may be tamed down for actual release, as AST-LUN-CPF says.

My quick impressions of the latest games that I've been able to play:

Mushihime Futari: kicks ass, I wanna play more. If it doesn't get ported, cry.
Pink Sweets: sucks worse than it should
Karous: ugly, sucks
Triggerheart Exelica: ugly, almost fun but not at all really
Raiden IV: 's'ok...sucks, though
Shikigami no Shiro III: good game

So far it looks like 2007 will be a nice year to enjoy the outdoors.

New 2007 Shumps. What can we look forward to?

Post by Mills »

Damn, 2007 is not looking to fruitful on the shumps scene. at least there are a few good titles out there to keep us shumpers occupied for a number of months. unfortunately i didnt attend Preview07 earlier this afternoon/evening (overslept again). so i didnt get to see or test play any shumps which may find their way at londons arcades. guess ill have to rely on following the various threads and links on this site for latest pics or video clips like the one i just viewed about 10mins ago of a mobile video clip of the jamma06 show. looking at a blurry mushi sequel clip.

HEY!!!

I would advise anyone here who owns a GBA or Micro (backlits are highly recommended) to get a good flash cart (at least 256meg) and the USB cable and start getting acquainted w/ the whole ROM download thing.

Because TERRA GALACTICA is REALLY coming along and so far what I've tested is GREAT fun and unbelievable by GBA standards!

And I would imagine it being completed some time in '07.

Oh, yeah and the music kicks ASS! :D

Just found the website for this: http://www.shadowsoft-games.com/diary/

So, is this download only, or will they actually be selling a cart of this game? Because I play GBA games on my Cube's Game Boy Player.

I'd like to see a re-do of Generations, preferably for PC or a next-gen system. While the PS2 GG plays well, I'd rather be able to do without the 30 FPS frame rate and reduced resolution (which comes from lack of Tate). Takumi has been way too quiet lately, though they're still listed as a Type X partner.

I've just ordered Shikigami 3 for the PC, and am considering getting Raiden III for it some other time (it'll probably be even better than the PS2 version which itself is very good).
Kinect? KIN NOT.

I'd like to see a new Takumi shooter right away. GWG is old hat.
