I'm trying to finish R-type final with one credit at the moment. I don't think I'm going to get there though. :(

I just tried to play Gradius on PC Engine last night. As much as I love the game and I'll keep the PCE version til the day I die, I still got a gripe about it.

> I always hated those large force fields that are on the end of your ship as opposed to the Salamander style FF. Depending on how much is on the screen, you can lose the shield altogether before it even gets to you because it gets hit by gunfire or surfaces. I can handle it on the NES/Famicom version cause it's small enough, but that same style of force field doesn't do well on arcade and 16+bit consoles.

This TRULY sucks. I forgot to bring back for holidays my saturn with all my shmups and mainly BG so I can't play it obviously. That annoys me at the maximum! Must wait itl september to play it again... :(

SO let's play some MAME nowadays, with Gigawing and Progear.

You can play Garegga in MAME, so that should tide you over until you can get your hands on the superior port. ^_-

Can't play on MAME, it's just too different from my beloved saturn port. I prefer to wait in endless pain in order to come to maximum climax once I find it back home.

Isn't that the one where you get arrested if you fire any of your weapons?

No, that's "Airport" or "Bank". "Work" is the one where they make you do tedious and repetitive tasks which usually don't include firing at all, only a lot of dodging in order to avoid being given more tedious and repetitive tasks.

Keio Yuugekitai Katsugekihen is not a shmup. It has the odd shmup level, but it is primarily an action-platformer.

I just got under feat, dodonpachi (psx), and ibara this past week...

dodonpachi is the s@#t hands down, graphics, play and everything is top notch...

Ibara is very much to my liking also, I'm a garegga fan so got figure...

Under Defeat is a simple but nice little shooter also, the explosions are really satisfying

I'm between shmups at the moment, dont want to start anything until I get my TV back after its been repaired. Then i'll be committing myself to either Espgaluda or Trizeal(should be getting Trizeal for PS2 in about a weeks time, is it any good?). I really miss Espgaluda, havnt played it in months due to TV problems, only had an old tv which my JPS2 doesnt work on.

RAIDEN3 for completion in single player, and dual player mode (via sellotaping the fire buttons down and controlling the joysticks of both 1player & 2player ships simultaneously). STRIKERS1945 completion of both loops (2-8) using all 6 fighters (P38,P51,SPITFIRE,109,ZERO & SHINDEN) in one session (ill take a digi pic as evidence & email it).

Starting to learn Strikers Plus, early stages.

Sort half-assed playing Dragon Blaze in this weeks STGT pick.
I'll be happy if I crack 1-4/400 000, then I'm done, for now.

Otherwise...pretty much nothing.
Oh yeah, a bit of Battle Garegga, at least that's how the week started for me.

In the deep, dark, scary, unvisited corners of this forum.

Ikaruga (GC)
Armed Police Batrider (MAME)

I play whatever I want...and that changes very frequently, however, these are the two that stick with me. Probably because I can see steady progress.

Kind of like the 18 and under equivelant: School. Except in school you don't get money and you have to try to wade through 2100 separate, sentient, bonefide, walking, talking bodies of stupid.

Armed police batrider - This is best raizing game i ever played :) though i'm still trying to break 4 millions which is pain in the ass (normal course because advanced is not for me)

Espgaluda - Overall game is not hard except stage 5-1 and 5-2! thanks to that game my overall skill was increased

Battle garrega - i'm playing this game rarely and it's hard for me i'm stuck at stage 3 heh

Battle bakraid unlimited version - This game is fun though i'm getting stuck at
final stage of normal course(boss rush) someday i will 1CC normal course

Currently Playing:

Thunder Force IV
Castle Shikigami 2
Gigawing
Ikaruga

Went into the options last night on Shikigami and turned up the bullet size and speed all the way. Laughed my ass off for at least 10 minutes, haha.

Psyvariar 2, DDP DOJ and Ibara at the top of the current list, with ESPgaluda and Mushi getting less frequent play. Pretty much got bored of Dragon Blaze and the shitty UK version of Castle Shikigami II.
