Damn Tim, you know there are quite a few Americans out there who still lives in tents due to this shitty economy, and you're dropping loads on a single game which only last 20 min. Do you think it's fair? How much did you spend this time?

A Guwange sequel would be nice indeed. On the other hand, its a very strong standing game, which makes a sequel a bit problematic, as its hard to top what they did in this game. Same with Ketsui - there is not much to add via a sequel.
Progear could have the appeal to the masses that would make a sequel work; the steampunk setting screams for that. I doubt that Cave will make another shooter without any pin-up girls that they can figurines and posters of. Games as dark as Ketsui or DOJ are a thing of the past IMO; Ibara was dark-ish, but the rose sisters made up for that. Kawaii / Hentai = cashola. And can you blame them? Every company needs to make a living.

I find it very interesting that you would say this. Because in my estimation the sequels to these three games are barely equal to their predecessors -- and certainly not better. In the case of Mushihime Futari I might change my mind once I play the final version, but I seriously doubt I will.GaijinPunch wrote:The same can be said for Dodonpachi, ESPGaluda, and Mushihime-sama, yet they always find a way.its hard to top what they did in this game. Treasure and Cave should put their minds together and make a game
kind of the same way nintendo and square have in the past
they could make it a puzzle game with a gazillion bullets
but only the pink bullets will kill you while the blue bullet build up a meter
building said meter will unleash a fantastic orgy of hentai goodness with URLs to purchase said hentai
every copy should be sold with used women's panties

DoDonpachi is arguable. ESPGaluda 2 from what I've seen is better than the 1st, and I liked the original a lot. I'd be suprised if Mushi 2 was worse than the 1st because Mushi 1 was like the shittiest game ever.icycalm wrote: I find it very interesting that you would say this. I suspect RFK already has two copies of the PCB kit in his collection.

I must be one of the few people that like MM's graphics... A follow up would be super.

No one realistically threw out DDP4? Is that b/c there's just about no chance it'll top DDP/DDP3?
Sequels are great and all, Guwange would be fantastic, but a new series would also be great. Ibara blew me away (never played PS), Mushihimesama did the same (and never played Futari). A new series would be welcome, but I figured Pachinko and MahJong would be their route.

Bad joke (I hope it's a joke).Icarus wrote:Q: What comes next, Cave?
A: More mahjong.
In my opinion, it should be nothing more until ESPGaluda II and Pink Sweets get ported to PS2, preferably sans the friggin' filtering. Then again, a Tatsujin III would be decent. Have it take off right after Tatsujin-ou, but add some special scoring system (not combos ala DDP, but something).
Kinect? KIN NOT.

I'm proberbly the only guy in the room that wants some sort of crazy tempest clone heh.sffan wrote:Since Mushi was a tribute to Galaxian & Galaga, they could do sort of a Space Invaders tribute, with all sorts of alien creatures coming at you. Cave hasn't yet done a shmup with alien creatures. They could really get crazy with that concept if they tried.
Seriously I'm not going to bother getting all hyped up about what they intend to do next. Personaly I just want them to continue to make games that they are passonate about and not because "oh the people want this game we need the money!".

If they're anything like me, most of this board lives in countries where shmups don't appear in arcades, and probably have real world expenses like mortgages and children that take priority to $1000+ PCBs.Valgar wrote:Most of this board hasn't even played their 3 newest games.
Console ports are the only way I get to play these titles. I'd say there's more than a few folks here in the same boat.
