Ikaruga's Practice mode is whack
I really don't see how using one credit on getting up to a level makes Practice mode worth it, since I've already mastered it if that's the case.
All I want to do is practice level 4, but this is being a real bitch.
Whoever thought of unlocking levels by this method in Practice needs to be punched in the throat.

I already know that, maybe I just worded my post confusingly.
I'd say it would be easier for me to practice the level on my own time to get better in that one area instead of wasting my time going all through the game just to use up my lives in level 4.

Well, all you have to do is get to Level 4 on one credit to open it up for practice. If you can't do that, you need to play the first 3 levels more anyway. Getting past level 3 on one credit doesn't take that much effort really.shinsage wrote:I'd say it would be easier for me to practice the level on my own time to get better in that one area instead of wasting my time going all through the game just to use up my lives in level 4.
Oh please STFU. Stop sucking so much and practice levels 1-3 until you're good enough to get to 4 (and then 5) on one credit. Then you can practice what you like as long as you like.Love love love love this game

Have to say I agree with twe. Sure, I suck and can't get past level three on one credit (I blame the lvl. 3 boss), but the way the practice mode works makes perfect sense. Get there on one credit then you can practice it so you can move on. Being able to practice a level before you reach it in a normal run is borderline pointless.twe wrote:Well, all you have to do is get to Level 4 on one credit to open it up for practice. I can get to level 4 on a credit, ass, I just always die on the final boss.twe wrote: Oh please STFU. Stop sucking so much and practice levels 1-3 until you're good enough to get to 4 (and then 5) on one credit. Then you can practice what you like as long as you like.

edit - you posted when I did, the strategy stuff I posted is irrelevant, given that you're only having trouble with the boss...not like the stage is that long though. Just keep practicing.
twe can be a little confrontational at times, but let's not get childish. Silly enough to post griping about such a temporary setback anyway.

Right, so why can't you unlock Level 4 in practice mode like you complain about in your initial post in this thread? You make no sense sir. If you can get to Level 4 on a credit, you should have Level 4 already unlocked in your practice mode menu.shinsage wrote:I can get to level 4 on a credit, ass, I just always die on the final boss.
@JJG: I never said it was "easy" to get past level 3 on a credit, just that it's not all that hard. Ask just about anyone who's played the game seriously for more than a couple weeks. Once you memorize the levels, Ikaruga is one of the easier shmups to 1CC as well.

Actually I agree with him 100%. It's much like Batrider or the Gigawings: easy to clear, difficult to score well. Not so much difficult as memorization-heavy, in 'Rooga's case.JJG wrote:I'd say twe's just an ass, saying it's easy is some cocky bullshit. Ikaruga is obviously a tought game whether you 1cc it or not.
