Fuck... I'm Dead - Bring on the Dead
Circle of Dead Children - Zero Comfort Margin
Goatwhore - Funeral Dirge for the Rotting Sun
You may want to hear Ion Dissonance - Breathing is Irrelevant. Very Meshuggah and Dillinger Escape Plan inspired, but a little different with debatably more tolerable screaming.
Clocked serious money at the NWCGE expo so I went record/CD shopping in Portland.
The Zeros "Don't Push Me Around"
Thee Headcoats "In Tweed We Trust"
Thee Headcoats "The Messerschmitt Pilot's Severed Hand"
Armitage Shanks "Urinal Heap"
The Makers s/t
Link Wray "Slinky! The epic Sessions'58-'61"
The Mummies "Death By Unga Bunga"
Johnny Cash "At Folsom Prison" I actually found this at the convention. The guy bought it for himself several years ago but accidentally threw it in a box of games destined for the vault. I spotted it all sealed and looking vulnerable and he let me have it for $5. Easily my biggest score at the expo.
A Feast of Snakes - "Bow Legged Woman" 7"
The Velvet Underground - The Velvet Underground and Nico
Pentagram - First Daze Here: The Vintage Collection
Birchville Cat Motel - Beautiful Speck Triumph (CMoon hooked me up with this forever ago, and I finally got it back from my deadbeat friend. So good. Thanks again, C!)
Robert Rich - Night Sky Replies
Earth - Living in the Gleam of an Unsheathed Sword
The Automator - A Much Better Tomorrow
Plastikman - Musik
Prince Far I and the Arabs - Dub to Africa
God Bullies - War on Everybody
Mastodon - Blood Mountain -- Its spell is finally wearing off a bit. One problem, the final track. I think they should've ended it with a little more energy to break from the usual formula, and the "hidden track" is unacceptable in 06.
Wolf - Black Wings -- not the new album
Coroner - Mental Vortex
"Out of Myself" - Riverside
"Redeemer" - Norma Jean
"Phobia" - Breaking Benjamin
"Home" - The Gathering
"Dracula Battle"
"The 2nd Advent" - Jeremy
"If_Then_Else" - The Gathering
After a good long time, finally back to listening to the Wipers first 3 albums (box set) today.

An oldie but a goodie. I was listening to No More Color a few weeks ago.
Easily one of the least retarded thrash albums I've heard. I could do without the cover at the end, but I'd like to hear more along these lines. Recommendations?
Now listening to... Watchtower - Control and Resistance. Er, these vocals.

Sadly, no. Most of their contemporaries were pretty 'tarded. Case in point: Vio-lence, Forbidden, etc. etc... I don't think I could suggest anybody you wouldn't have heard of already (Voivod, early Prong, etc.). Sorry, man.
That Nachtmystium album is good though. I'm not familiar enough with the newer metal stuff to really describe it. Post Metal? Regardless, I like, along with most of Southern Lord's other stuff.

Yeah I was a bit miffed after all that waiting just to be treated to an unfunny skit at the end of the CD. The final proper "song" on the took some getting used to but its not bad.
On a related note I got to see Mastodon play live last Thursday along with Converge and the Bronx
Mastodon flat out ruled as expected. Troy stomped and jumped around the stage like a madman and the sound wasn't too bad either despite the shitty venue. The best was thier playing "Hearts Alive" as thier encore. They couldn't have gone out on a better note.
Rob, if you haven't already heard them, you might like Holy Terror. They only had one album and I believe it was from about '88. At the time, I considered them Slayer's equal.
Listening to the first track of the album you mentioned and I've yet to throw up, so it's not gothic metal. It does sound a little mainstream pop/rock-ish.

Too punk-ish thrash for me. I also don't like Slayer, ashamedly (listened to 5 of their albums, never sinks in).
the grateful dead - live dead
PIL - best PIL so far
Cabaret Voltaire - 78/84
The Fall - The Real New Fall LP (COTC)
King Tubby and Friends - Everything...
Brian Eno/Jah Wobble - Spinner
Ryan Adams - Gold
Carcass - Necrotism
Napalm Death - Scum
Discharge - Why?
Loving the King Tubby stuff at the mo. Only just got turned onto dub and it hits the spot.
Robbie Basho - Venus in Cancer (first time on CD) Gorgoroth - Antichrist (many other great titles) Thomas Tallis - Spem in Alium (finally got around to hearing this, probably one of the most impressive pieces of church music (motets); heavily influential, multi-layered, etc.)
Musik von Harmonia Surface of the Earth - s/t
Yeah, I mentioned anti-christ next to a religious piece...dude, it's all the same to me
