YPbPr for mega drive/genesis
YPbPr for mega drive/genesis
Is it possible to get YPbPr from a genesis one way or another?
Damn Tim, you know there are quite a few Americans out there who still lives in tents due to this shitty economy, and you're dropping loads on a single game which only last 20 min. Do you think it's fair? How much did you spend this time?

It would be more like RGB from mega drive/genesis...
You mean like extract "Component Video" output from a Mega Drive/Genesis console?Strider77 wrote:Is it possible to get YPbPr from a genesis one way or another?
The Sega Genesis 3 console has the best decoder chip and can easily output true RGB signal for use with XRGB upscan convertor or a true low-resolution analog RGB monitor. One would have to get an expensive transcoder and convert RGB signal to output as component video -- which is pretty crazy idea (sure, some Superguns have special transcoders to do such output conversion process).
PC Engine Fan X! ^_~
the reason i want to do this is b/c i use a HDTV not a monitor...
I need to get a transcoder any way to get progressive out of my dreamcast.

I've just bought a scartrouter which trancodes RGB signals to YUV.
I've attached my MD through scart and the image I got on my yuv monitor was pretty good. It was 240p.
Unfortunatly I have to send it back because the leds light on the front of the machine don't work.
But I was really impressed with the quality of the image on my widescreen LCD monitor.
The scartrouter seems to go under a lot of different names but the one I bought was the Orbit Scartrouter 2001.
Here's a link to the dutch shop I bought it from:

I've done it with a transcoder, results are good.
I wouldn't buy a JROK PCB unless your only using it for one specific console. I have an external unit which uses SCART leads from Europe. That way if I buy a Neo geo, a SNES or whatever, I just need the SCART lead.
I mean if you want to buy a JROK for every retro console you buy you might as well get an XRGB. It will be cheaper.

If you use it externally you would need to build a box, you would still need to extract the RGB lines from the AV outputs. And external units cost about the same anyways, maybe $20 more.
They don't do progressive output either, that would require upscanning.

The old JORK unit shouldn't be able to do the task.
I don't know whether the new one could.
But I do know that you need a transcoder built around a LMH1251 chips.

The chip's data sheet said it could convert VGA to Progressive Scan YPbPr.
