Almost beat the boss this time. Lost the last of my spare lives on the 3rd boss, managed to get through Stage 4 on one life and scored OK there (about 50 mil). Stage 4 is a lot of fun and is probably my fave stage, but I fucking hate Stage 1. So incredibly frustrating to score there (I should add I haven't used the tutorial gems bug on any of these scores).
My modded Hori RAP should finally arrive on tuesday/wednesday, so then I'll be able to play with a real stick instead of this clunky neo geo stick I'm currently using.
I had the same frustrations you have. Stage 1 is hard to score. My best is 42.3 million (and have it on video) w/o using the stage 1 bug (which I believe is called Seirei Tobashi, FYI). Stage 3 boss also sucks. I hate her last pattern. Stage 4 boss also has some good scoring potential but you have to play it really tight. The end of the fourth stage alone offers a good 40 million points without much work. Just make sure you have 500 gems and 500 gold when it starts (right as the last tank appears).

I don't really have any problems with the Stage 3 boss anymore, for the last pattern I just stay on the far right and I avoid all the bullet hell in the middle of the screen. If things get too tight I tap barrier, but usually I get away unscathed. I die a lot on the second stage still, towards the end, and just stupid mess-ups during all the stages. You're right, it's pretty easy to get a ton of points at the end of stage 4 if you just save up your gems and gold. I need to practice the stage 4 boss a lot, as you said you can get some good point gains there.
I had 187 mil at the end of stage 4 in a run last night with no lives left entering stage 5. I lasted about 2 seconds there, getting sniped by a stray bullet. So my final score was 187,112,XXX. Lol. What a waste of a good run.
Oh well, I'll get some more runs in next weekend! Hope to improve my score then (don't have much time to play during weekdays).
I found stage 5 got about a million times easier when I memorized when and where those tanks would come from (the ones that pop up on the left side, towards the bottom). If you can watch them out of the corner of your eye, they won't pop you.

Had some time for a couple runs tonight, got just enough to squeeze by pugeta on the rankings:
TWE - 202,201,916 - Ageha - Stage 5
Ended my game midlevel as usual, only got about 10 mil out of stage 5.
Nice to finally break 200 mil, but now I have to start practicing Stage 5 (and 6).
lol, just barely squeezed past rom1frommars into 3rd place with this score. Once again, ended my game mid-level. But I pulled out 35 mil in Stage 5 by mid-level, so I'm getting better.
You missed my last score in the update, GJP. Also, I think it would be great to have three separate hi score tables, one each for Ageha, Tateha, and Asagi. I'll be entering scores for all three eventually. The game separates these scoreboards, so it only makes sense.
Yeah, I guess we'd need more people to submit scores for these characters for it to be worthwhile. Well, I'll try to post some Tateha and Asagi scores by the end of the week.
My score from each stage:
- Stage1: 42 millions (not scored on Tsubame)
- Stage2: 65 millions (Just made crap )
- Stage3: 136 millions
- Stage4: 240 millions
- Stage5: 321 millions (died on last form of SESERI)
Wow, those are amazing scores. I think the Japanese will keep playing this seriously until someone reaches 900 mil, which is definitely possible with Ageha and Tateha.
I only made it to the middle of Stage 5 on this run, I was surprised I got that far actually as at the end of the Stage 4 boss I had no spare lives and no barrier left. My scores at the end of each stage:
Stage 1: 36mil
Stage 2: 70mil
Stage 3: 137mil (my best so far!)
Stage 4: 271mil (my best so far!)
Stage 5: 308mil (died right after the 'drop sequence' in the middle)
Had some silly deaths in this one, for example 2 deaths in Stage 2.
