Well, I asked around on YouTube, and a very helpful user (who has done some awesome R-Type Final replays) has alerted me to the use of WMV9 to encode YouTube targeted video data with.

So I need a quick bit of help from some kind souls. ^_-

Compare this YouTube video, encoded with XviD (1800kbps bitrate, 30fps, H.263 quantization, and other bells and whistles) to this video encoded with WMV9 (VBR single pass). (You'll have to mind the flickering on the stage2 vid, MAME likes to go nuts on that stage. Only happens on the first section though.)

(And before you ask, I'll still be releasing high quality full-length stuff occasionally. I just haven't been able to upload to super-play for the past few days, server timeouts every time. -_-;; )

I saw someone had some shoddy Mars Matrix videos (sorry!) up with tacky music in the background, so I thought time to upload my own videos with unbearable music. Stage 4 almost looks choreographed at points. Hilarious.

This is pretty cool. If I ever catch a good run on record (fat chance) then I'll post it.

Great replays. Those really help me improving at that addicting shmup - you use some different strategies than ACR in the max score replay. The most annoying background music by far has stage 1. Stage 4 - Hella sounds nice, though. How long have you been playing Mars Matrix?

~200 hours. :)

I need to get stage 6 down next time I play, and the large ship part of 4. The Hella song is my favorite of the lot, too.

Those Mars Matrix videos are brilliant. Mars Matrix + Rob's skills + hard atonal metal = ENTERTAINMENT.

Hella reminded me a bit of some stuff from Constellation records, a canadian label. And 200 hours? Man, if I would finally get serious with one particular shmup, then it`s got to be Mars Matrix. I still wonder how it could sit on my harddrive for more than a year so unrecognized. It plays like a dream.

By the way, was that the dreamcast version? I noticed the very short pauses between the charge attack.

Yeah, the Dreamcast version. If you can get ahold of it, I highly recommend doing so. The button arrangement makes the DC version more enjoyable (you can get a rapid shot and a rapid piercing cannon, which I use a lot). The scoring system is also corrected to not max out. And it's got a great all new mode. One of the best ports.

Hi. I don't know where better to put this and don't feel like making a new thread, so here is the Twinkle Star Sprites Saturn intro for anyone interested:

Sorry if this has been posted elsewhere on the forums, but I just found that French Documentary on Shmups and I was blown away by the coverage that Cave received and getting to actually see an interview with the "Deity" Ikeda!

It has english subtitles but they are very hard to read.

Enjoy!

It has been posted, but I can`t be posted too much. Funny how ulta-sci-fi the Cave studios look - the G.Rev studios look more like a basement hobby room.
