How THE OFFICIAL POLL works:
How to vote in THE OFFICIAL POLL:As Rob wrote:DJI makes this thread, people post their vote in this thread, DJI tallies the votes.
Follow only these directions exactly and you will have voted correctly. No need to pay attention to anything else.As Rob would have wrote:1. post vote in thread
2. post before Sunday 23:59 (11:59pm) GMT (switch board clock in profile)
If you feel like learning more about the unneeded unused unofficial poll or other voting safeguards in-place, the details are in the fine print at the bottom of this post.
If you don't feel like switching your board clock, use this GMT timepiece:
http://wwp.greenwichmeantime.com/
I will be using this clock to determine when it becomes GMT Monday morning to end the poll.
Your selections for Retro Week are the following:
Juno First

Looks like Galaga + Defender + a pinch of Asteroids, all of which may or may not give you a dial-up internet connection. This game's stages function in enemy "waves". You get 99 seconds to spend on each wave. Galaga = 16 distinct waves of enemies & vert shooting. Defender = graphics, sound, the little map radar thing, and this astronaut "mystery" dude you have to rescue to trigger some bonus mode where nothing on-screen shoots at you and scores go up. Asteroids = "warp" ability that disappears and reappears you to avoid attacks.
Section Z

Flyin' through the regular alphabet as stages with a boss on E, J, O, T, & Z. This goes horizontal or vertical depending on the stage. Ya got a laser gun, grenades, various icon pickups, and a specific "turn" button to face the other way when you feel a 180 degrees coming on..
Star Force

Since we're on the trends of retro shooters having the same name as mediocre present-day companies and each game stage has to be a letter of some alphabet, Star Force the game sounds like a quasi-clone of Galaga or Galaxian. You can add another ship to yourself (Final Star & Purser) to double your rapid fire. There's a mini-boss and a real boss, but only one real variation of each. You fight through the entire greek alphabet, destroying "Final Stars" and dealing with "seven mysteries." One of them is not about disc copy protection.
Exerion

The game looks like it wanted to be Star Fox, Space Harrier, or Captain Skyhawk but stayed at 2D Vertical with some inertia simulation. "To combat them (Exerions), Fighter X can use his rapid fire gun or his dual space cannons. If he uses his rapid fire too often he will lose his charge which can only be replenished by hitting his enemy with the dual guns." So basically, limited fast cannons and unlimited slow guns are weapons. I noticed the game is ported a lot. "To get a high score, if you do not miss any shots your bonus score will keep on doubling to 10000 then reset to 0. When at 10000 miss a shot then bonus score will revert to 5000." Decide for yourself if that's scoring depth or not. This game likes the letter "X". It likes it a lot.
Time Pilot '84

"A 4-way scrolling shooter" as they call it. You have a standard shot and lock-on missiles. One type of shooting may kill stuff while the other may not, depending on the enemy. You play the same map every stage, but enemy locations separate one level from the next. The boss is the same at the end of every stage as well, appearing only after a certain number of standard enemies are killed. Get ready to memorize what stage has what hidden goods and where.

As long as these instructions below do not confuse you with the instructions left for you to follow above, here are all the fine print additional voting rules in place to serve more as "future week-long controversy insurance" or more accurately, "In-Case Shit"
-Only people assigned to a team on the first page of STGT 2k6 will have their votes counted.
-Even if you didn't play in a previous week, if your name is assigned to a team, you can still vote.
-If you post your vote and then edit your post, your vote is disqualified.
-If you post your vote and then post another vote again later on, I will only use your first vote.
-If you post your vote, post another vote later, then edit or remove your first vote post and I/we catch it, your vote is disqualified and other people should point and laugh at you.
-If you post your vote, but forget to specify any required additional detail where needed (course selections, etc), make another post with the rest of your information from which you still needed to vote on. Just don't edit either post or you'll break the rules above.
-..so basically, be careful and certain when posting here
-To stop any chances of confusion for team voting, I ask that only Individual posted votes will be counted. Nobody can 'delegate' their vote to another team member or post their vote in the name of another team member. Obviously you may pm within your team as much as you want so you all can agree which choice to go for, but all 5-7 votes from a team will not count unless I see an individual post from every team member.
THE UNOFFICIAL VOTE with the typical polling above is just for fun. I threw it there to "keep things exciting" and to keep people in-the-know what game they are going to have to acquire and get running ahead of time. The unofficial vote up-top will have no bearing on which game wins the vote.
I will advise during the poll on where the unofficial poll is terribly inaccurate, however, official results will never be released until the end of the vote.
*NEW* The Tiebreaker Clause:
The poll is scheduled to end at 23:59pm Sunday GMT. It officially ends when I or Edge post saying the poll is over. In the event at the time of the deadline that I detect a tie between the two leading candidates OR a candidate is leading by a single vote, I will extend the voting period by two hours to leave enough time to use votes to widen the gap between the two leading game picks.
After this second voting deadline has been reached, if there is still a tie or a single vote difference between our two leading game picks, another two-hour extension on the voting deadline will occur. However, this time members in teams with players that still haven't voted may cast the vote(s) on behalf of the players who didn't vote. Players who utilize this must specify the absent player he is casting the vote for in the same post as what he decided his additional vote will be.
After the third and final voting deadline has been met, if there is still a voting lead of a single vote, the chosen game still wins. If there is still a tie, Edge gets to pick the winner between the two games in question.
