I apologize for acting un-Christ like....

Post by dave4shmups »

I've been really short with people on this forum, and my language hasn't been very representative either. And obscenely pridefull is the man who won't take advice, and I've been guilty of that, too. This isn't a poor me thread, quite the contrary, I just wanted to say sorry for all this, and for being a poor representative of my faith.-Dave

Don't worry about it. I'm a Christian too and I also messed up big time. It happens.

Would you mind replying to my PM?

Dave, I think all you need to do in order to not make people here angry is ask fewer questions. I understand the reasons you give, but they don't help anything as far as annoying people. Just don't ask for opinions on games...buy what you're sure you'll like, or would be able to easily re-sell (like radiant silvergun) or rent and form your own impressions. Those alone should keep anyone financially in the hole :P so no need to worry about anything else.

And as far as other questions, research them for a few days, then ask on gamefaqs till things here blow over. On these forums watch how other people post and about what and learn from that.

It also breaks my heart to see you selling off consoles and games you were previously enthusiastic about for prices that rip yourself off...it almost seemed like you were desperate to get rid of that asian pstwo bundle. Almost every console has excellent games for you to play, I recommend just sticking to one console for awhile and swearing to yourself you won't sell it (preferably your new ps2 for its range of titles).

Just my 2 cents/advice/what have you.

Don't stress too hard over it Dave...you're only human and thus not perfect. I don't think anyone here has any right to judge you, or anyone else for that matter.

I have faith too, but I'm not "Holy-Holy" about it...I don't rape,dismember,kill,etc,etc...but yea, I do use cuss words in my vocabulary.
Not too often, as I try and portay myself with at least some sort of intelligence.

One who says "fuck" at least three times in one sentence, is obviously lacking in something...

Perversion also annoys me.

100% Agreed. You've already spent time looking hard for some of those games. You owe to yourself to enjoy them. You're only going to be this age once. Shmup while your skills are still prime. :D

dave, maybe you should take this advice, but replace "shmup" with another hobby...

maybe you're forcing yourself too much to like video games and be hardcore about it by buying anything and everything you can get your hands on. play games in moderation. find another hobby you enjoy. spread your time and money. make the most out of your life, buddy.

YOU'RE ONLY YOUNG ONCE, BUT MORE IMPORTANTLY, YOU ONLY LIVE ONCE.

I think Dave is on a low budget and just wants to own everything at least once (he's almost there  ). Which is fine, but since he is in the minority and nowhere near passionate about shmups he feels like apologies are the the order of the day.

I guess it's that time of the month again. Dave finally manages to irritate everyone, the thread snowballs into a huge tumbling mass of insults and stupidity, it gets locked, and then Dave makes another thread saying he's sorry.

I've seen this before. Multiple times. And you know what? It gets more and more tiresome each time.

If this is heartfelt, Dave, then show it this time and quit doing this over and over again by just using some common sense here and there. If this isn't heartfelt, then there was no reason to make this thread.

Either way, color me totally unimpressed with all of this.

Ugh...nevermind. I found and read the thread. Mostly read like bullshit to me.
I could care less about replay video's, and I don't know much about computers and downloading stuff...

Why couldn't you guys just give the guy some advice without all the hassle? Like I said, I don't know much about downloading shit either, and what went on would be like if I made fun of you because you don't know how to set the "timing" on your very own car! Don't know the "gap" to your spark plugs!?!? Can you set the floats?...GOOGLE it Doode! You cant even change your oil...what a looser! Get a grip, ur, I mean wrench!

See? Sounds a little rude...we're supposed to be somewhat friends here, right? Or am I at the wrong place again.

I hope most of you guys see my point...

I see your point Twitch, and normally I'd agree with you. We all ask dumb questions once in a while.

However, there are three issues here:

1) Dave insisted that he googled and found nothing. If you google for Bit torrent, you get a TON of info on it. So either he didn't google, or he didn't look very hard. This, by itself, wouldn't be an issue except for the fact that...

2) This isn't Dave's first time using Bittorrent (as pointed out in the thread), and...

3) Dave floods the forum with questions as it is. Any time a thought enters his head, he posts a thread about it. Generally, people are pretty tolerant of this (much moreso than most forums), but when he asks a stupid question, some people razz him, others help, and he goes off on everyone and talks about how sick he is of the board, etc... well, it's more than a little obnoxious. Yeah, the thread gave him some shit, but there was also some helpful info in there that he didn't seem to be reading, and instead of trying to actually work with the people who were helping him, he just insisted that they tell him how to convert the torrent file into video.

And I replied the way I did in this thread because it's not the first time he's done this, nor do I think it'll be the last. Everyone makes mistakes, but at this point that doesn't excuse it.

Still, I guess every board needs their drama queen.

BTW I got that bit-torrent file of a Ketsui replay and I still can't figure out how to watch it, but no way I'm gonna ask on this forum. The response dave got was uncalled for. Many dumber questions get more respectful replies here.

May I recommend http://www.google.com ?

Also, Twitch I found the answers to your questions on http://www.howstuffworks.com but I would only recommened that site for advanced users of this new fangled contraption called the internet. New users and those with little patience can always rely on http://www.google.com.

Damn almost forgot the main topic. Dave, no need for apologies. Look at every thread as a chance to start over.

Dave -

One thing I've learned in my Christian walk is that the main thing to focus on is your relationship to Jesus, not so such your shortcomings. We are all human and make mistakes at times, but it's what you do about them and weather or not you allow them to hinder your relationship to God that counts. And I've found that being closer to Christ will automatically make you more like Him without much effort on your part. While I agree that those who choose to follow Him should be like Him, it's near impossible to be 100% loving 100% of the time.......

And like other members have said.......its just a forum.....

Not if you're a fundamentalist christian!!! If you are a fundy your main thing to focus on is convincing me that evolution is wrong (because obvious evolution = no god)...and, well, someone isn't doing their job!!!

CMoon, those beliefs are not just exclusive to fundamentalist christians. Fundamentalist Jews and Muslims both have a similar set of beliefs. Of course one of those will resort to suicide bombing each and every individual text book that evolution is taught in. I kid because I love!

Religions of all kinds are great along with atheism, folks. If they have truly made you happy then they have served their purpose.

I'm of the mindset that I find it hard to believe that there isn't a God. After all, despite the terror and horror in the world (caused by man and his bad choices), there is so much beauty & intricacy to our world that I find it harder to NOT believe. I mean, if God didn't create the earth, how could it have come into being? Evolution just doesn't make any sense to me, and the notion of a God who created everything (as expansive as this universe is) seems more plausible than the "Big Bang" or "something from nothing" notions that most evolutionary thought is based upon.

"Everyone makes mistakes, but at this point that doesn't excuse it."

Do you treat everyone that unmercifully??
:? I should hope not, because you are no more perfect then me or anyone else on that forum. And TWITCH is right; there was no need to be so rude in that thread.

I am focusing a lot on my US PS2, I just got (used) Silpheed, Maximo (the first one) Champions of Norrath, and Gungriffon Blaze today, and I am having a ball with this system. I started getting impulsive AFTER I sold my first US PS2, it's my fav. system of all time, and that's why I got this one back.

And I do have other hobbies, I love dancing, and I am deep into Isaac Asimov's Foundation series right now.

And thanks to the encouragement from the other Christians in this thread!
Happy Passion week to you all!

"God" is not an explanation because you can't explain God. God just replaces what you don't know or don't understand.

And the notion that God created everything also implies "something from nothing," a notion you don't think is plausible.

Right. I know. I just think Postman was dead on, and it is one reason I like NewEngland a lot more than the midwest. I really don't care what a person believes as long as it doesn't involve them bombing things, but really, what part of christianity says you have to start a crusade against certain theories. It is so 1700's with the whole 'old school' thinking versus the new age of enligtenment. You'd think these people might have read a history book. Ultimately it makes christianity look bad and isn't fair to the majority of christians who aren't wackos and don't have some special agenda beyond their relationship with God.
