Best CPS2 fighting game?

Is Kaillera working for everyone? I haven't been able to connect to the servers for some reason. :cry:

The problem I see with arcade collection regarding capcom is that almost every game they made is available via a console port, the exceptions being AvP, Battle Circuit, Powered Gear (or whatever it was called--side scroller with mechs), Punisher (may have gotten a port actually) and maybe the first dark stalkers (though the two sequels are much better).

It would seem to me that the whole reason for having a cps2 set up would be to play progear and dimahoo. *shrugs*
Well it really depends on how seriously you want to play it...I was considering buying a SFA3 b board because the saturn version has scratchy sound and some load times. Considering the amount I was playing the game, it would have been a worthwhile purchase.

mannerbot: I sometimes play on Kaillera when I'm at home, since the university's firewall settings prohibit online play. But for every good, fun game I've had on there there have been 9 laggy and therefore poor ones.

That's why I bought an Xbox recently, once I get a live subscription I can play super sf2 turbo online, hopefully with a lot less lag. Or if it's there, less noticeable. Outrun 2 is a damn good time also, but I digress :)

Yep, I'm thinking about getting an XBox myself just for SFAC Live play. I've heard the lag is very minimal, too.

Can't blame ya. Upper was only released in Japan. And since it's on Naomi rather than CPS2 as the original SFZ3 was, it's not about to be emulated anytime soon.

The DC version has the extra characters, doesn't it? too lazy to check :P

the DC version has all the chars from the PS/SAT version, but some extra stuff in world tour and all the chars are unlocked from the start. IIRC you cant play as super bison in the PS version, but who cares.

the PS version sucks, not only for loading times but also for some issues with v-ism, namely stupidly short invincibility period upon activation.
the arcade board has the classicc mode glitch, where some char's throws do an insane amount of damage if you select the time-release "classic" mode (without super bar)
some chars are much stronger in the arcade version, dhalsim is a beast.

the DC version is fine, but the resolution iss "kinda" bad and there's a minor glitch where you input forward then a normal within a certin number of frames, nothing comes at all, not too big but happens every 15 matches or so, kind of annoying.

i havent played the sat version much, i heard its the best one, but with the number of sat fanboys over the world, that may be untrue, i dunno.

the upper version is a naomi game and was released for DC with netplay, however, since they removed the glitches, and the glitches made the game better, no one played it and everyone stuckt with the normal version.

there's much more differences, but im not a sfa3 expert so i dont know them all.

as for best CPS2 fighting game, SFA3 without a doubt, the depth and complexity of this game is just insane.

Well, looks like I'm going to have to pick up SFA3 eventually. Looks like that's the most common pick by far.

I already have SF2: CE and SF2: Hyper. I recently picked up an MVS motherboard too, so I plan to get a few fighting games on that platform as well: Samurai Shodown 4, King of Fighters 99, Garou: Mark of the Wolves.

That's probably where I will stop, as I'm not a huge fighting game fan. I just want to have a decent library of good fighters for when I'm in the mood or when friends come over who like them.
