Can one run US NES games on a PAL NES system w/o a hitch or is there a nead for a converter of some sort? And the reverse (PAL on a US sys.)?

the tv system is hard coded into NES games. i think the game is responsible for triggering the refresh signals (like atari's). so, you can't mod the hardware either.
but, i don't know what will happen if you do it. will a US NES output pal if a euro game is inserted?

To answer your question: You need a converter, but there's no guarantee a game will run at the correct speed (some don't work at all).undamned wrote:Can one run US NES games on a PAL NES system w/o a hitch or is there a nead for a converter of some sort? And the reverse (PAL on a US sys.)?

I think the speed difference and squashed screen is very annoying for PAL NES games, that's why I got an AV Famicom and Japanese carts of all my favorites. I wouldn't buy any PAL carts.
